MPlayer tells me a lot of things about what it's doing - so why not also
a single little message when it's done playing? By polling, processing
overhead and unneeded granularity is added. If MPlayer would spit out
that message automatically, it's the cheapest way regarding processing
cycles, and the way which introduces the least delay.

Now, I'm searching for the string 'EOF reached' with -msglevel
all=0:demuxer=7 . This serves the purpose almost perfectly, just in some
occasions this message is issued twice, or it is issued right after
loading a new file using 'loadfile' slave command, I haven't
investigated a lot on this. I've just worked around in that way that if
the message is found, it will be ignored in the next few lines of
MPlayer's output.

While this seems to be working now, a message like "Entering idle mode"
would lead to an even cleaner solution.

Kiste

Re: no sound in win7,but win2003 ok

thanks for your reply.
1. yes, same mplayer works well in win2003 and it's the same sound file.
2. the sound file plays ok in windows media player.
3. yes, have the same error messages.
4. configure options:
   --enable-gui --enable-menu --enable-runtime-cpudetection --enable-static
   mplayer source version: 1.1
   ffmpeg source version: 0.11.1
5. you can download the player and mp3 file from follow link:

wrong answer to the slave mode command(get_propertytime_pos) on audio

I found mplayer + ffmpeg has added a new feature in somewhen,
Which display the album art of an audio file if there is one.

But the time_pos of the audio file goes wrong, it outputs a very
big minus number.
and also, the console output of the current A, V time goes weird.

the output of the console is attached below.
---------------------------
subtitle font: load_sub_face failed.
pts after filters MISSING
A: 0.0 V:-9223372036854775808.0 A-V: 0.000 ct: 0.000
0/ 0 ??% ??% ??,?% 0 0

Too many audio packets in the buffer: (4096 in 3126509
bytes).
Maybe you are playing a non-interleaved stream/file or
the codec failed?
For AVI files, try to force non-interleaved mode with the -ni
option.
ds_fill_buffer: EOF reached (stream: video)
A: 0.7 V:-9223372036854775808.0 A-V: 0.000 ct: -0.000

Re: no sound in win7,but win2003 ok

So you have an mplayer on windows 7 that works with sound for "some
files" but not others?
That is odd.

"C:\Downloads\GMPlayer 1.11(static)\GMPlayer 1.11(static)\mplayer.exe"
"C:\Downloads\Zen02.mp3" works for me with my windows 7 64 bit.
Have you tried other windows 7 machines?

I know extremely little about Virtual Boxes, but I would
expect that they do not support hardware OpenGL support.

Does -vo gl work?

If you are a user (and not a distributor), please use
current svn head.

The first thing I'd check is whether the linux guest additions for virtual
box is installed in the vm and the correct driver for X is being utilized.

Note: gl acceleration Is considered experimental

This looks like software OpenGL only.
