dumpstream question

Hello all,

I'm doing something like this -

mplayer -dumpstream -dumpfile funny.wmv mms://
www.funnystuff.com/funny.wmv?MSWMExt=.asf

If the stream isn't found at that URL I want it to just fail and stop but is
seems to just keep retrying, what is the option to make it try once and then
just fail?

Thanks for taking a look into this!

I attempted to upload a file by the name of
2009-07-31_chozian_at_gmail_dot_com_Vado_HD.avi. The file is 271MB. I got
back a "553 Could not create file" after it was done uploading. I'm assuming
it failed, but wanted to double check with you before attempting again. Is
this file too large? If so, what size file would be good? I tried uploading
a very small text file called test.txt which appeared to have uploaded
successfully.

Also, in my original post, I wrote that the Vado HD video files are 1KByte/s
video bitrate. That was an obvious typo. I meant to say 1MByte/s bitrate.

screen blank while playing

Hello,

the mplayer currently can't set X screen blanking off, I have to manually
issue "xset s off" to prevent screen from blanking. Same happens with
mplayer and gmplayer, fullscreen or window. xv and gl output...

I run debian gnu/linux 5.0 - lenny, nvidia with propietary driver (the one
from lenny. No DE (olvwm window manager), no (x)screensaver.

MPlayer SVN-r29463-4.3.2 (C) 2000-2009 MPlayer Team
- checked out and built a while ago.

Is this a known problem? IF so, what is it and is there a solution to it?

Seeking works fine with -demuxer lavf, the native demuxer does not work
correctly with this file.

That's what MPlayer does for me:

I added the following to my ~/.mplayer/config file to automatically set the
demuxer to lavf when playing AVI files.

[extension.avi]
demuxer=lavf
