i already checked configure --help, it wasnt there

about abusing the network...
1.
you know i like to browse the network, and when i see a movie or
whatever i like to just open it and see what's it about.... that without
going thru all of smbmount ....

2.
some people like more if i watch a movie from the network, because that
way i use their harddisk only for let's say 200kb/s.... which is really
tolerable... but if i copy it to me , i do it at 3000kb/s... which is
not that much tolerable :-)

Must be broken mishandled strides somewhere... :(

It's about 25-50% faster, at least for me.

Try the -zoom option. And get a better graphics card, maybe.

Re: audio slightly off (sync?)...

[Automatic answer: RTFM (read DOCS, FAQ), also read DOCS/bugreports.html]
Clip info:
 Software: MEncoder CVS-030128-18:58-3.2

its pretty new, just like 3 days old. the problem still persists, and i'm
finding more and more dvd's that encode to divx's with 200-300ms audio
delays. the dvd's playback perfectly with mplayer, but once encoded to divx,
i have to specify mplayer's -delay option. does it have anything to do with
telecine? i'm not sure, but the problem seems to occur when i get those
automatic telecine detection messages when encoding.

i tried to put the delay in the header of the divx with the -audio-delay
option with mencoder as follows:

mencoder -oac copy -ovc copy -audio-delay 0.3 -o kingpin_sync.avi kingpin.avi

is that the right way to use -audio-delay? it doesn't seem to work. the
audio in kingpin_sync.avi is just as off as in the original file kingpin.avi.

even if -audio-delay worked, would players like windows media player recognize
it? or just mplayer?

thanks,

keyboard behavior change

[Automatic answer: RTFM (read DOCS, FAQ), also read DOCS/bugreports.html]

I recently moved from 0.90rc1 (I think) to 0,90rc3 and had
something annoying change on the keyboard.
Used to be <SPACE> paused play and <ENTER> resumed from the
same point. Now <ENTER> restarts play from the beginning including
resetting to the original image size. This happens with multiple
file types.
Is there a way to get the previous behavior? I haven't found
any place defining how to change things in input.conf.
	(System: FreeBSD 4.7, XFree86 4.2.1.7, Matrox G400)

Old behavior: space pauses and any key resumes.

New behavior: space pauses and any key resumes, and that key also does
its normal function after resuming!

Recommended solution: use space to unpause, not enter! I have no idea
where you got the idea that enter was the unpause key.

Hmm, unbind enter or make enter a second pause key? Read the sample
input.conf in etc for examples.

encoding with xvid does not honor bitrate argument?!

[Automatic answer: RTFM (read DOCS, FAQ), also read DOCS/bugreports.html]

Hi!

I have the following problem: I want to encode a set of .vob as follows:
cat *.vob | mencoder -oac mp3lame -ovc xvid -xvidencopts bitrate=1600:pass=1 -v -sid 0 -

But the bitrate/filesize I get is way to big. In fact the file created
at the first pass is even bigger then the original .vob.

Here is the output of a run which has been interrupted after a bit of
time:
