save streams?

[Automatic answer: RTFM (read DOCS, FAQ), also read DOCS/bugreports.html]
is it possible to save streaming video to disk, even if the hoster doesn't
want this? i mean, the data come down to my machine anyway, so I guess one can
save them, right?

OT about ATI cards Re: Two graphicscards..

[Automatic answer: RTFM (read DOCS, FAQ), also read DOCS/bugreports.html]
Ok, here some info about ATI cards from somebody who unfortunately purchased
one:

Linux drivers from XFree86 support Radeon 7xxx in 2D/3D, Radeon 8xxx in 2D,
and just recently ATI release the FireGL drivers under different name as
semi-official 8500-drivers, but those are rather crippled as the FireGL cards
don't come with RageTheatre, so no DVD accel, no TV out, no VideoIn.
This is what's gonna make me buy an NV card next time. the output signal
quality is not as good as on ATI boards, but I can live with that as long as
I'll be able to play Doom3 in Linux.
The reason why ATI doesn't support the RT chip is that they had to implement
Macrovision, which of course can't be done open source. Tho I can't tell why
they don't go ahead and provide closed src as NV does.

(and for you Windoze users: the 60Hz problem is due to the ineptness of the
Redmond lunatics who failed to properly implement autodetection. You need a
refresh fix tool, watch out: if using ATI catalyst drivers you a tool which
can handle Catalyst, else -> no effect)

i) Run
mencoder -ovc lavc -lavcopt vcodec=mpeg4 -nosound -vop cropdetect \
-o /dev/null yours_vobs.vob

in your vob files a few seconds and ctrl-C.

 You get something like this:

crop area: X: 0..719 Y: 22..451 (-vop crop=720:430:0:22).000 [0:0]

You want -vop crop=720:430:0:22

This read as follows:

From the left upper coner, it moves 0 to the right and 22 down. This point

is the left upper corner of a rectangle 720 widht and 430 every thing out
of this rectangle is cut off. So you basic command must be

How exactly are you invoking the mencvcd script?

What type of files are you converting? The script automates the
procedure needed to create the vcd's. It basically is three parts as I
understand it:

1. Both the mplayer video and audio feed are converted seperately into
mp2 & mpv formatted feeds using mjpegtools.

2. These feeds are then rejoined into one mpeg1 formatted file.

3. This file is then converted into the raw bin format used in VCD's and
a cue file generated for it.

If you are not getting sound, try playing the file with just mplayer, it

Sipro support?

[Automatic answer: RTFM (read DOCS, FAQ), also read DOCS/bugreports.html]
Can someone please tell me whether Mplayer does or does not support Sipro Realaudio?
The docs say it does (via RealPlayer8 libs), but I haven't had any success with it. I seem to remember reading
something to the effect that it *should* work, but hasn't been tested, but I can't find this in the docs.
  Thank you.

ativcr2 codec

[Automatic answer: RTFM (read DOCS, FAQ), also read DOCS/bugreports.html]
Hi,

I re-post my problem with ativcr2 codec:

First, I can't play avi films created with codec ativcr2 (on a ati
all-in-wonder pro card), when I use mplayer, I get a signal 11 with
init_video_codec. And I've w32codec installed.
Second, can I encode this avi on another format to make an editing of
this films (with mencode?) and thus play this new films without
ativcr2.dll? (I specify that I'm not the creator of the film and I just get the
 encoded film with ativcr2 codec.
I put down some films and log file on http://e1000kry.nerim.net/telecharge.html
Can someone play a film to test if their are good?
You can get a log file when I play this films.

Thanks a lot

Émile

both work just fine for me, except for one glitch: after I've used
xvidix once, xv will only show a black box, which can only be fixed by a
server-restart

this is with yesterday's cvs (has also been working before, though)

3d isn't quite stable for me yet, unfortunately, but that'll change ;-)

it works for me, using rp8 libs.
you need pre8 or cvs of mplayer.

maybe it doesn't work for all files, i have just a few samples.
upload samples, and be patient.
realaudio/video support is at very low priority on my TODO, sorry.
