yes its cause configure sets MAX_OUTBURST to an unreasonable high
value, but ao_alsa9 has a mechanism to work arround this, so you can
ignore this warning for now.

Thanks for the reply Mart,
I tried some of the other video out options but had no
luck. However I checked out the current cvs source and
installed and everything worked. I guess it's just the
port.

libdvdnav + lidvdcss not included in?

[Automatic answer: RTFM (read DOCS, FAQ), also read DOCS/bugreports.html]
Hello,

I compiled and installed MPlayer-0.90pre5 a couple
days ago. I didn;t have problems with it as far as
compilation/installation errors, however it did not
seem to recognize that I had libdvdnav or libdvdcss
installed.

The versions of these libraries I installed (from
source) prior to compiling/installing MPlayer are:

libdvdcss-1.2.1
libdvdnav-0.1.1

They were the latest versions of these libraries I
could find.

After the ./configuration stage of MPlayer, though,
the "summary output" listed each of these in the "not
included" section.

Is there a reason these libraries were not detected.
The only thing I could think of (and this is quite
likely it), is that I do not have a DVD player
attached to my computer (but I was thinking of the
"future", as I plan to get one for it eventually);
could that be the reason (though I'm not sure why that
would make a difference).

Re: SVCD Help?

[Automatic answer: RTFM (read DOCS, FAQ), also read DOCS/bugreports.html]
Does MPlayer support playing SVCD's? If so, where are the options to
enable the SVCD format. All I get is an "unsupported format" error.
I can play the raw mpeg files until burned to cd as an svcd.

The svcd's play fine in other dvd players for win32 like powerdvd and
windvd. I am switching to SuSE and need a good svcd player, looks like
MPlayer is the solution... am I right?

Thanks again for any ideas/help.

Well, I think it would be worse to reply to this in a new thread.

Re: libdvdnav + lidvdcss not included in?

[Automatic answer: RTFM (read DOCS, FAQ), also read DOCS/bugreports.html]
Hi Alan,

libdvdcss is not needed by MPlayer - it includes it already in the form of
libmpdvdkit, so it's disabled by default. As far as I understand it dvdnav
support is experimental at this time, so it's also disabled - to try it
though, just specify --enable-dvdnav (I think) in the configure command and
then recompile.

Okay, good to know.

I'll give that a go.

BTW, I have a G400-TV (has a "breakout box" with
audio/video inoput and outputs). If I were to plug my
stand-alone DVD player into the inputs, do you happen
to know if it would be possible to view the DVD via
MPlayer?

Not sure, I'd imagine not. AFAIK the only capture support in MPlayer is for
Bt8x8-based cards. On the other hand, I understand TV-out on the G400 is
very well supported.

from the manpage:
 -vcd <track>
Play video CD track from device instead of plain file.
