mingw compile/mplayer binary codecs question

i compiled a mingw mplayer with binary real support, with i believe
--with-codecsdir=/c/programs/mplayer/codecs but playing anything gives me

Opening video decoder: [realvid] RealVideo decoder

is there anyway to find out where mplayer is trying to find the codec?

the codecs are there, and the dir is linked as a system PATH...
i know its probably built wrong, but i would like to find out where
i specified the codecs. (maybe get it to show up with -v -v -v or something?)
other mplayers in the same dir work fine... codecs.conf is fine... help?

Check to make sure this ^^^^ is the exact name.

Then read vd_realvid.c and look for load_syms.

Are you using Linux .so files? You need to use the Windows DLLs.

C:\programs\mplayer\codecs>ls -la drv33260.dll

arr, okey, thanks a LOT for the answer i was looking for!
i built the code on another pc and cant access it right now.

but, the error message is not clear, can you devs fix it?
(i know this requires lots of rewrite code, just a suggestion)
instead of "error loading dll" how about "dll not found" or
"cannot find dll in dir c:/blah" or "dll is incorrect version" or
"dll returned error" or "dll will not work on this os" or return
an "dll error code 15" and list the codes in the man/docs

Please describe a bit more what is happening. Does it go away if you use
-vo directx:noaccel or a different version from
http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/win32-beta/ ?

If LoadLibrary fails, then I think this may work (untested):

 char **buf = NULL;
 int flags = FORMAT_MESSAGE_ALLOCATE_BUFFER | FORMAT_MESSAGE_FROM_SYSTEM | FORMAT_MESSAGE_IGNORE_INSERTS;
 if (FormatMessage(flags, NULL, GetLastError(), 0, &buf, 0, NULL)) {
   printf("%s\n", *buf);
 }

Re: Extend picture probem

Well it Didn't work with another verision or with -vo directx:noaccel but i think it's some problems with
the graphics driver. but i tried to reinstall that to.
I don't realy now how to explain more, it's just that the picture gets pixly if i see it more extended than the
original resolution.
