For a start I've added a Windows section to the projects page:

Sure, why not. The Windows section here is a start but certainly not
the end:

http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design6/projects.html

Any bright ideas? The whole MPlayer homepage could use an overhaul
and some more content and we sure could use some help.

I was out of town and havent got many time to test it.
But re-reading your answer and mine, you can see that I forgot the
/Codecs at the end of my --with-codecsdir option :)

That makes it work, no need to install anything if you installed the
Realone player before, since pncrt.dll is in windows/system32.

motion pixels moviecd codec in mingw?

i've been trying to get this codec into mplayer for a while, was having no luck on linux
(as it would do a check on what system i was running)
so i had an idea to try it with mingw and i got this error. you can check my previous

dunno if this info is even useful, if not, sorry!

Re: motion pixels moviecd codec in mingw?

Just for giggles, what are the access rights to the file under cygwin/mingw as opposed to those in XP itself?
(Looking for the -rwx-w--w- style syntax, with user/group included).

Have you tried making the dll owned/grouped to Administrator? Just theories, mind you, but it might do the
trick... Also, try switching the executable flag and try it, otherwise it may need other things setup in
mplayers 'internal' registry, which I know nothing about really.

er, NT 5 = win 2000, not xp

i dont have mingw installed on this computer to see the rights, but since i run with admin access
i'm sure its not a permission problem but more of a program error. or in the way mplayer accesses
the codec... its a very troublesome codec ;\ i think the final outcome on linux was someone had to
add to the wine code mplayer uses to open codecs.

that error comes from a window which is titled 'Mvicod32 Exception Handler'
"A fatal error has occured in the Motion Pixels codec!"
"Please update your video/system drivers before reporting this problem"
"If the problem still exists please contact Motion Pixels at www.motionpixels.com"

then follows that with the error i pasted.

mplayer -v works normally until it loads the dll, then the window pops up, after clicking ok on the window
mplayer exists without error. the file is cut off a moviecd that i own, the file works in the motion pixels
program.

Ah, an obiwan for me on which NT version... But anyhow, it looks like maybe you can run a registry snooper to
find what gets accessed when it works correctly on the Motionpixel software, which is what will need to be
added for mplayer's reg loading. Send that info along if you can, if not, is the motionpixels sw freeware,
shareware or commercial? If free/share, upload a sample of the moviecd and codec, along with the sw for us
to work on it as well.

arg! in my original message, i posted links to the mplayerhq.hu directories of the codec.
i already have all of that information, and i've already uploaded all the info needed from the
codecs importing page (graphedit info, clip, software, codec) the first link is the software
the second lnk has the codec, file, graphedit information. (you can download the software
at http://www.moviecd.com/mpdload.htm )
