[R300] Enabling S3TC texture support? (Ref: bug #8056)

Hi,

I have noticed that I am getting warnings like these in some OpenGL games:

*********************************WARN_ONCE*********************************
File r300_texstate.c function r300SetTexImages line 301
DXT 3/5 suffers from multitexturing problems!
***************************************************************************

When I asked about this on Phoronix, I was referred to bug #8056 where there is a Mesa patch which
would apparently fix this. Is there any chance that this patch could be applied to Mesa, please?

Thanks,
Chris

Re: [R300] Enabling S3TC texture support? (Ref: bug #8056)

If I remember correctly, the patches still had a couple of bugs that needed to
be worked out; they caused errors with the tiling when I tested them...

However, the AMD 3D documentation includes information on micro/macro tiling, so
it should be possible to fix those bugs...

I'll take a look at it as soon as I can. I currently can't get to bugs.fd.o.

Take the source of mesa/progs/demos/renormal.c

1. Add glClearColor(0.0,0.5,0.0,0.0); at line 32:

   GLfloat scale = 0.6 + 0.5 * sin(Phi);
   glClearColor(0.0,0.5,0.0,0.0);
   glClear( GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT );

2. Run renormal, the background is green, so far so good.
