The name 'Lumiera' itself comes from the Lumiere brothers, the cinema
pioneers. I like the idea that we carry some heritage over to the next
technology. At least in the name and in the logo, while I would really
dislike if the UI is going to reflect only legacy workflows, we are
certainly trying to make the best use of the possiblities one can get
with computer.

Prior to the movable type printing press, there were only letters and 
capital letters.  With its advent two cases were used to store all the 
type.  The upper case stored the capital letters and all others were 
stored in the lowercase.  The terminology still exists today and 
everyone understands what is meant by the use of the words even without 
knowing there origins.

This is neither an argument for or against, just an observation related. 

Personally, I like the lifted frame, again neither an argument for or 
against.

slight rounded notches, and thinner but noticeable lines, works for both
print and screen. Notice that the notch radi are bit odd these should be
 fixed, thats rather my inability with inkscape.
