Yes, something like that would be useful. And perhaps even better
would be to detect if the file is plain-text.

Btw, please reply to the discussion we were having on the forums, at:

There were some important issues there. :-)

ANNOUNCE: Gnome Subtitles 0.2.1 - Bugfix Release

What's It?
==========

Gnome Subtitles is a subtitle editor for the GNOME desktop. It
supports the most common
text-based subtitle formats and allows for subtitle editing,
conversion and synchronization.

* About: http://gnome-subtitles.sf.net/about

* Screenshots: http://gnome-subtitles.sf.net/screenshots

* Download: http://gnome-subtitles.sf.net/download

What's New?
===========

Release notes are available at:
http://gnome-subtitles.sf.net/gnome-subtitles-release-0.2.1 .

This release covers some bugs that were quickly reported. Changes:

    * Now builds with gtk-sharp 2.8 again
    * Added the *.txt pattern to the "All Subtitle Files" filter, in
the File Open dialog
    * Print the stack trace to the console when an unknown exception
is found while opening a file

System.EntryPointNotFoundException

I wanted to try gnome-subtitles on FreeBSD but got this exception when
starting the program:

Unhandled Exception: System.EntryPointNotFoundException: prctl
   at (wrapper managed-to-native) GnomeSubtitles.Executable:prctl
(int,byte[],ulong,ulong,ulong)
   at GnomeSubtitles.Executable.SetProcessName (System.String name)
[0x00000]
   at GnomeSubtitles.Executable.Main (System.String[] args) [0x00000]

I'm running mono 1.2.2.1, gtk-sharp 2.10.0 and gnome-sharp 2.16,
gnome-subtitles 0.2.1.

I have no experience with C# nor mono, but if you give me a few pointers
I might try to debug this.

Re: System.EntryPointNotFoundException

Hi,

This is because that specific method uses a system function to set the
process name (to "gnome-subtitles", instead of "mono"). It recurrs to
the libc library:
[DllImport("libc")]
private static extern int prctl(int option, byte [] arg2, ulong arg3,
ulong arg4, ulong arg5);

I've changed the code to work not to break with this. Can you try the
SVN trunk version? It would be interesting to see whether this works
fine in FreeBSD.

Ok, it works. Nice program :)
I'll use it for some time and give you some feedback.

Thanks. It is very helpful when you have subtitles whose encodings
aren't properly detected.

Automatic frame rate adjusting

Hi,

There is an option to select frame rate for subtitles and a movie. It's
set by default to 25 FPS.
It would be nice to add feature to autmatically adjust frame rate when
movie is loaded.

Marcin

Re: Automatic frame rate adjusting

Marzin,

This feature is planned. I don't yet know if it will work automatically
or not (perhaps with an option in the preferences), but there will at
least be a menu item related to the detected video FPS in the "video
frame rate" menu.

Regards,

Shift dialog

Hi,

I have two suggestions to a "shift dialog".
1. Program should remember which option was chosen in the previous use
(all subtitles or only selected) at least in the current session.
2. There should be also option "all subtitles from current".

Regards
Marcin
