Re: gephex-user Digest, Vol 54, Issue 1

RE: QT issues (angelo Bentti)

1/  Gephex will not compile on 64 bits system (i have tried in chrooted 32 environement too)
2/  & does not compile with GCC newer than 4.2
3/  about QT, you need the development files (qmake) of qt4 (if gephex4.4 is choosen)(qt3 for gephex4.3)
and qmake  must point to your version of qt (3 or 4)
4/  just have a look there to solve the QT problems
http://forums.314r.net/viewtopic.php?t=113&sid=0bdce54b76a9c7afc9e356d8e6c880c5
5/ there is a good package for debian/ubuntu there
http://ubuntufromscratch.tuxfamily.org/   builded for Hardy but works on later
the biggest problem is that it does not not compile with new GCC version
http://bugs.gentoo.org/250712

Have fun

Hi fellows. I've been trying to compile Gephex for monthes. I' ve tried many
distros and architectures, and always stop in the configure step since I
can't find a way to set the Qt dirs up. The warning tells me to set them
manually, and I tesated so many ways to input those paths, all
unsuccesfully.

I don't know if it is a Qt3/Qt4 or a x86 32/64 conflict, but I would love to
be lightned to solve this step.

Thanks for any advise;

Gelo

Error when trying to install from sources

After running ./configure the make script comes to a halt. Anyone got an idea what's wrong here?

list problems

Hi,

during the last weeks the listserver for the gephex-user and
gephex-devel mailinglists had a severe problem. It refused to accept
mails sent from non gephex.org addresses. Due to the low traffic on both
lists the problem stayed unnoticed until today. The problem should be
fixed by now.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

./configure script can't build GUI on Ubuntu 8.10

Hi,

I'm having trouble building/installing Gephex on Ubuntu 8.10.

I'm
following
http://www.gephex.org/docu/documentation.html#sec.building

* I installed tla with apt-get and then got the latest version from arch.

* I got autoconf, automake, libtool and python
* I didn't know how to get
DocBook DTD, DocBook XSL Stylesheets, xsltproc and docbook2x
* I ran bootstrap.sh

* So far so good
* Now I ran ./configure
* at first some apps, such as
gcc were missing, so I got them with apt-get as well
* then I ran ./configure
againg and I get the following error:

configure: WARNING: No QT support
found.
*** The GUI (graphical user interface) will not be built!
*** Note:
most linux distributions split qt into two packages:
*** one containing only
the libraries needed to run binary qt
*** applications and one containing

*** needed to compile qt applications from source.

*** Obviously, you need *both* packages in that case.
*** If you know you

*** For details see "./configure --help".
*** Also we would

*** to improve our autoconf test for

*** Sorry for the inconvinience.

I don't know what the (lib|bin|inc)
options mean and where my qt dirs are. I tried
sudo ./configure --with-qt-lib
dir=/etc/lib/qt3 without success.

Alternatively, I tried installing "gephex_0.4.3-2_i386.deb"
with GDebi but got the following error:
Error: Dependency is not satisfiable:
libqt3c102-mt

Anyone else with the same problems?
Any ideas for a solution?

It's a fresh Ubuntu 8.10 installation.

Kind regards,
VirtualFlavius

audioin module

Hello list
I could never get the audio in module to work. Today I noticed the error
of the cli saying it could not open /dev/dsp0 and I understood the
reason. there was no /dev/dsp0 to be opened. So I got it working by
creating a symlink called /dev/dsp0 linking to /dev/dsp.

Now I have it working, but there is a problem: I can only have sound
input in Gephex from the microphone. What I would like to do was to have
sound input from say rythmbox or audacious or some other music player.
Can someone help me out?
Thank you
