Almost have ffserver operational on a shared web server

Hello,

I'd like to stream my desktop to a shared web server. All codec work will be on 
my client, so should not place much burden on the shared web server. Almost have 
it all working.

The last issue is access to ffserver remotely through the web server's dedicated 
IP and open port. Yes, I've tested the port and indeed it is open and 
functional. 

So here is the isolated issue:

wget from ssh on my shared server returns code 200, and ffmpeg (yes, I compiled 
that to on the shared server just for testing purposes) streams correctly to 
ffserver.

But, from an external client, wget returns a 404 error. Probably just an Apache 
error. But, thought I'd post in this forum to see if any have suggestions.

Here's the command line...
wget http://domain_name.com:9090/feed1.ffm

and here's the responses...

Through ssh on my shared web server:

Connecting to domain_name.com|(ip address)|:9090... connected.

Ok. Fixed. Needed to add another ACL line to ffserver.conf for my remote 
workstation IP address.

Regarding use of ffmpeg as rtsp client for record

Dear Sir/Madam,

I wanted to know if the ffmpeg can be used as a client for any RTSP server other than ffserver. I want to use it to send RECORD to an RTSP server.
Or is it that it can be used only with the ffserver ?

Also if you have details on how to accomplish this, it would be kind of you to share the same.

The answer is yes.
 You can build a simple RTSP server with VLC, and then play the stream with ffmpeg.

ffserver network issues

My apologies for cross-posting, I was unaware that there was an actual list for ffserver- I have been a subscriber to ffmpeg-user for some time, but only for reference and to learn new tricks with ffmpeg so I haven't actually posted before.

I got back to an old project I've been fiddling with for some time now, but ffserver doesn't appear to be doing so well now. I've run some updates, new platform, and new platform versions and I've done ok until now.

When I first kicked ffserver off it refused to bind to the network at all, after some retries, searching through confs, it worked- not sure what the failure was after all that.

When I started sending data to the server using ffmpeg I get the following error:

av_interleaved_write_frame(): Connection reset by peer

My data is gstreamer pipelined dvb stream with ffmpeg splitting and processing to mpegts output, although I have another method which essentially has the same result anyway- gstreamer drops the pipe when the buffers fill because ffmpeg doesn't take the data from the pipe. Cmd is as follows:

gst-launch dvbsrc adapter=1 frequency=xxxxxxxx modulation="QAM 64" bandwidth=7 guard=16 ! queue ! fdsink | ffmpeg -i - -f mpegts -vsync 0 -vcodec copy -acodec copy -map_metadata 0:p:1601 http://127.0.0.1:8090/stream1.ffm -f mpegts -vsync 0 -vcodec copy -acodec copy -map_metadata 0:p:1605 http://127.0.0.1:8090/stream2.ffm -f mpegts -vsync 0 -vcodec copy -acodec copy -map_metadata 0:p:1608 http://127.0.0.1:8090/stream3.ffm

If I output to file it all goes beautifully.

Does anyone have any clues on this? Any help would be much appreciated.

I also could use some help as to where the logs are going as well?

YES, it works. I can build ffmpeg of both of arm-abi and mips-abi by your shell script.
As I need executable ffserver for Android, how do i modify your script to approach that?

Firstly, you should remove '--disable-ffserver' in conf.sh. As for use it in Android, you should modify the src and Makefile to build ffserver as a *.so lib, then link it by java code. That is only what I suppose. I just managed to port but not yet use it.

I use this ffmpeg command, and it works:

ffmpeg -f video4linux2 -i /dev/video0 -vcodec msmpeg4 \
   -vf drawtext="fontfile=/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSans-Bold.ttf:x=7:y=7:text='\%H\:\%M\:\%S \%a \%b/\%d/\%Y'" \

But the drawtext filter is ignored.  It works when I put the output in a file like this:

ffmpeg -f video4linux2 -i /dev/video0 -vcodec mpeg4 \
   -vf drawtext="fontfile=/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSans-Bold.ttf:x=7:y=7:text='\%H\:\%M\:\%S \%a \%b/\%d/\%Y'" test.mp4

I built the ffmpeg and ffserver with this ubuntu howto:

ffmpeg -filters returns a long list of filters
ffserver -filters returns no filter list, just "Filters:".

How do I overlay a date/time on an ffserver videostream?
