Vss2Svn project moved, call for help - PLEASE READ

Hello everyone,


As I've been planning to do for some time now, I've moved this project to its final resting home at Google Code where I hope it can live out the rest of its days peacefully. I have set the Subversion repo to read-only and disabled new subscriptions to the mailing list. I'll soon shut down the mailing list completely.

IF YOU ARE STILL INTERESTED IN HELPING THIS PROJECT, here's what I need:

* Join the new Google Group mailing list. I decided not to automatically subscribe all existing users to the new group since that felt too spammy, so please join the new group at: http://groups.google.com/group/vss2svn
* Help me clean up the wiki. Luckily most of the wiki syntax is the same as Trac so I was able to directly export/import the wiki pages, but some of the markup and links didn't work.
* On the same note, please go through the wiki and remove references to PumaCode, the old repository location, the old mailing list, and the old downloads section.

Someday I hope to dig up my ActiveState Perl-to-exe tool and convert Alexander Gavrilov's set of patches (at /branches/Alexander) into an exe for others to download, but at least I'll try to put a note on the new wiki that users may want to try that version.

I've copied all previous nightly builds to the Downloads page at the new site.

Thanks again for your help. I'll send out another email in the next couple weeks once I shut down this list for good.

Help needed to resolve error.

Hi All,

 

I am getting below errors while creating dump file for migration.

FW: vss2svn error: reference to invalid character number at line


Hello vss2svn people,

 
Is there a fix or workaround for this error below ?
The converter program VSS2SVN is failing because it chokes on a comment I put in one of my VSS check-ins.
I tried go back to remove the offending text from the VSS database but it still stays in the history.
C:\downloads\Vss2Svn>vss2svn --vssdir \vss_on_files --debug

How to use -label_mapper optipon in vss2svn commandline

Hello,
 
I would like to know in detailed what the following options work ..
 
   --trunkdir        : Specify where to map the VSS Project Root in the
                       converted repository (default = "/")
   --auto_props      : Specify an autoprops ini file to use, e.g.
                       --auto_props="c:/Dokumente und Einstellungen/user/Anwend
ngsdaten/Subversion/config"
   --md5             : generate md5 checksums
   --label_mapper    : INI style file to map labels to different locataions
What is the format of ini file?

VSS2SVN: Issues after migrating

Hi,

I was able to go through the entire process successfully (well, it didn't error out, & vss analyze ended successfully)-but I am facing some major issues:

- Only 3 of the 6 projects migrated
- Many files didn't migrate
- I checked the logs of some files at random, and somehow, only history in 2004/2005 has been migrated. Later versions & corresponding history hasn't been migrated.
- The 'orphaned' folder contains 1940 folders

I need some direction on:
- how to troubleshoot these issues?
- any general reasons/things to look out for on why certain files etc don't migrate & how to fix them?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Questions related to running Analyze in VSS server

Hello All,
 
I am running Analyze.exe from the commandline, it pops up an Analyze Results window, at the bottom it says 100% complete, but Elapsed time keeps on changing. In the Window it says, Validaing the security system.
 
How do I now it is complete?

Problem having to run an external job ..

I ran the following:

I do not have tomcat installation. Do I need to have it installed for
running external jobs?

No trunk or tags directories

I've just downloaded vss2svn-0.11.0.zip from pumacode.org and when I
extract and load my repository, there is no trunk or tags directory.
Is this right version? Where do I find the version that correct
creates the trunk and tags?
