fwiw, the --auth mechanism works for me on my mac, but I note one
major difference: my realm is a single word, without spaces: 'Trac',
and that is also present in the passwd file. The other difference is
that I wildcard my project:
  tracd --port 9090 --env-parent-dir /Users/fred/Library/Trac --
auth="*",/Users/fred/Library/Trac/users.passwd,Trac
and password lines appear as:
  fred:Trac:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Do your password entries match the realm specified on the command line
exactly? If so, I'm suspicious of the spaces in the realm, and would
try without that.

Good luck,
--Hal

[Trac] Experience using Trac 0.13 (dev) ?

Hello,

I'm thinking on updating my Trac 0.11 to version 0.13 (dev) - I had a
look at the open critical tickets and could not spot any, that will
take me into trouble when a problem arises.

Does anyone have experience on using 0.13 (dev) in it's current state?
Something like "using it for weeks, no problems so far" or "using it
for a week, had some bugs that stopped Trac working", anythng like
this?

Thanks a lot

Two data points from my side:

 - trac.edgewall.org is running 0.13dev-r10664.
 - I am running 0.13dev-r10641 at work. It's a small installation with
10 users and relatively low traffic.

Both installation are running fine, without any issues. And if there are
any critical ones, we are obviously very interested in fixing them quickly.

Where you may have more trouble is if you use many plugins. I don't
think many have been tested with 0.13dev yet. FWIW, TracAccountManager,
TracFullBlogPlugin, TracMercurial, TracGit, TracSpamFilter, TracVote and
TracTranslatedPagesMacro all work fine on 0.13.

[Trac] Re: Login problem with MacOS X

Now it works. The problem were slightly different realms
used for password creation and for starting a web server.
Sorry for bothering you...and thanks for your help.

Hello Remy,

thanks a lot for your answer.

ok, these two points are good ones - didn't notice that
trac.edgewall.org is running their 0.13dev version.

I also have a small installation with just a handful of users and
very few plugins. Good point on the plugin compatibility, I guess I
just have to test all needed plugins with 0.13.

However, one question is left: How did you migrate to 0.13? Or was it
a fresh installation?

I can't find infos on the Trac site on how to migrate from 0.11 to
0.13. If there aren't such infos right now, I hope the 0.11 to 0.12
migration infos will be ok.

 - Timo

[Trac] automated milestone description (with trac-admin)?

Hi all!

Is there a way to setup milestone descriptions in an automated way?
I'm currently improving my shell script which creates a new trac
project and does some setup stuff incl. creating milestones. And I'd
like to set some generic but milestone specific descriptions in there.
How can I do that?

Thx in advance!

BR
Micha

[Trac] [Plug-in development] regarding linking in a plug-in

I'm currently writing a plug-in for Trac and I have a question
regarding setting links in the plug-in:
The plug-in is in a new tab and its template is shown in the correct
way. In the main html template I have html-elements that should link
to other templates.
How can I implement this? If I just put the other templates to the
other stuff in htdocs, the html template is shown but on the whole
browser-site. I want that the new html-file is integrated in the rest
of the trac environment (under the plug-in-tab)

I have seen another Plug-in which uses add_ctxtnav(req, 'test',
req.href.test("/test_reports")) to link to other templates. I want
basically a similar behavior but with normal <a href=""> links.
Is this possible?

Best regards,
Micha-Jamie Guthmann

It was an upgrade from 0.12.2.

The infos for 0.11 to 0.12 are all you need. There's no new
functionality in 0.13 that requires any manual changes IIRC. Just make
sure you back up your Trac environment and database prior to the
upgrade, so that you can go back to a clean state if anything goes wrong.
