[Trac-dev] Spam filtering on t.e.o

I just wanted to express a quick "thank you!" to Dirk Stöcker for
recently enhancing the spam filter and tuning it here on t.e.o. There's
hardly any spam getting through lately, and we haven't had any angry
comments from users about our spam filter either. Which of course could
also mean that they can't post at all, but looking at the logs this
doesn't seem to be the case :)

So, thank you Dirk and keep up the good work!

After I've got the chance to see inside the SPAM filter queue, I was
impressed as well, how much is going on behind the scene. And keeping
ticket comments clean and tickets usable is a certainly important. This
is really well done here. I thank you too.

Sorry, I don't recall receiving anything like that... either my failing
memory or my failing mail delivery system ;-)

Sorry, read "to the Trac project" instead of "to the projects".
I think it's a right well deserved for our contributors if they want to
add a link to their Trac in a good spot. So for example, I would be glad
to see http://trac.openstreetmap.org near the start of the page, if you
wish so ;-)

Well, the "instead" only referred to the "I work at" comment. I agree that
commercial and open accessable stuff should be separated.

Well, it is harder to read for the user, so alphabetical is much better.
From time to time someone can have a look and resort :-)

I changed the site a bit. I think it looks better now. Feel free to update
when not correct. I specified the rules a bit: So I added a comment, that
non-linked entries can be removed after 3 years not-updated. As there is
no way to verify non-linked Trac installations I think this is a good
idea. Whether or not they really are deleted can be decided in 3 years :-)

Naturally I added the two OSM projects I know of.

Thanks for the green light, Christian. I feel such references are good
to have them around, when trying to convince some administration staff,
that a Trac application is a good idea and a solid foundation for
someones work. Call it "to show off", this could still be helpful
anyway, if you talk to someone far away from that technology, you know?

Nice, so one of my initial goals has already been reached. :-)

Let's go for more reviewing now. I'll try to review say ten entries each
evening and leave an editor comment for the next day to avoid edit races
and duplicating work, so we should have it done in a reasonable time
without blocking any other work too much.

Sincerely

I'm not sure if sorting of the Open Source entries is such a good idea
(http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracUsers?action=diff&version=894).
Manual ordering allowed us to keep related things together, like Sugar
Labs and OLPC, numpy and scipy, other Python projects, etc.
We can also move closer to the top "exemplar" projects and down those
who are not so well tidied (e.g. trac.bevolunteer.org has a lot of
ticket spam, it shouldn't come first).
