Artwork for elisa

Hello guys,
today when reading planet.gnome.org I saw blog of Neil J. Patel
(http://njpatel.blogspot.com/). This guy is making nice mockups of
existing and like to have applications.
What I liked in particularly are his visions of multimedia center, see
posts on flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/29906893 <at> N00/406938667/) .

I believe it would be great if you collaborate here, it almost looks
like he did it for Elisa :)

Best regards

Robert

Yes he has some nice ideas. We also have quite a few mockups to show,
I'd like to publish them on Trac soon..

Elisa on a Sarotech abigs

Hi All,

I was looking through the lists and I saw this post [1] on running
elisa on lower end hardware.

I'm not sure if its planned or even been considered but I've just got
myself a Saratech abigs DVP-570HD [2] and with a bit of poking I've
discovered it runs Linux on a Sigma Designs EM8620L Series [3].

>From a userbility point of view the interface is pretty horrific. Its
gui is pretty basic and essentially just gives lists of folders and
files and a way to navigate through them with a remote control. That
aside for what it does it works reasonably well. If it would run
gstreamer/elisa i think this device would be sweet. I think to be able
to get something like this, load up a prebuilt custom firmware (like
the openwrt project for routers) would be a great application for
elisa.

The device has all the video connections you could want DVI, S-Video,
Composite as well as digital and analog audio, LAN, USB2 (device and
host) and a on-board HDD, a well kitted out remote control and
interface on the front.

There's a firmware listed for it here [4] and you can just unzip it
and mount the abigs.bin file as a loopback device to see more about
it.

ANN: Elisa 0.1.4.2

The Elisa team is proud to announce 0.1.4.2 release of the core of the
Elisa home multimedia system.

We fixed some issues, bugs and added few features since the last
release:

- the .desktop file has been fixed and is now valid. Elisa menu will
  appear in xdg compatible menus
- Elisa now detects ogg theora files and is able to play them
- the audio visualization effects are now disabled in the default
configuration, this doesn't work well and need more work
- Elisa now detects coldplugged devices (ex: usb disks plugged before
  elisa has been started)
- next/previous track buttons have been added, allowing the user to
  skip track currently being played
- a Last.FM_ webradios streaming client has been added, it allows
Last.FM users to listen music via the Last.FM streaming platform.
