Hi All,
I was looking through the lists and I saw this post [1] on running
elisa on lower end hardware.
I'm not sure if its planned or even been considered but I've just got
myself a Saratech abigs DVP-570HD [2] and with a bit of poking I've
discovered it runs Linux on a Sigma Designs EM8620L Series [3].
>From a userbility point of view the interface is pretty horrific. Its
gui is pretty basic and essentially just gives lists of folders and
files and a way to navigate through them with a remote control. That
aside for what it does it works reasonably well. If it would run
gstreamer/elisa i think this device would be sweet. I think to be able
to get something like this, load up a prebuilt custom firmware (like
the openwrt project for routers) would be a great application for
elisa.
The device has all the video connections you could want DVI, S-Video,
Composite as well as digital and analog audio, LAN, USB2 (device and
host) and a on-board HDD, a well kitted out remote control and
interface on the front.
There's a firmware listed for it here [4] and you can just unzip it
and mount the abigs.bin file as a loopback device to see more about
it.
Peter
