Summary: xdvik draws wrong size window

Initial Comment:
xdvik-22.84.8 and xdvik-22.84.10 draw extra space around the bottom and right edge of the window in expert
mode. SuSE 9.0's default is xdvik-22.40v, which (correctly) draws a window which is 731x945 with expert
mode on, statusline off, and us papersize. Both 22.84 versions draw a window which is 746x967, with the
extra space showing up at the bottom and on the right. Looks like the bottom region is trying to make space
for the statusline; perhaps the region on the right is an artifact of the non-expert buttons. This problem
is not visible in non-expert mode. If there is a way to eliminate this excess space, I haven't found it.

Email address is cilantro05 at comcast.net; thanks.

[ xdvi-Feature Requests-1264444 ] restore older behavior of delete key

Summary: restore older behavior of delete key

Initial Comment:
The delete key used to behave as the reverse of the space key. That
is, it would move up a page to the top, then to the bottom of the
previous page. Now it just moves back a full page. I would like to see
the original behavior restored, I really miss it on my laptop, and there
doesn't seem to be any key that does it now.

(By the way, the help menu claims that the space key moves forward a
full page, but in fact it moves forward by page segments in the way
described above, i.e, it moves down a page to the bottom, then to the
top of the next page.)

Summary: Font encoding bug

Initial Comment:
From Thomas Esser via PM:

Staszek has recently opened a thread on the tex-live
list regarding xdvik
which tries to use a .pfb file for font rendering, even
though there is
no corresponding entry in the map file.

I think that this is some kind of fallback programmed
into xdvik to
help those people who don't have good map files. The
problem is that

Initial Comment:
may it be considered to drop the toolkit name from
binary name, i.e. have xdvi.bin instead of
xdvi-motif.bin or xdvi-xaw.bin? that way the names of
xdvi binaries will be the same across unix builds.

Summary: use KPSE_DOT expansion

Initial Comment:
Sometimes xdvi fails to fully display a document if
includes external parts, e.g., graphics. This happens,
if each of the following is true:

- it includes parts (graphics) that are located in a
directory other than the directory of the document

- these parts are found via environment variables,
e.g., TEXINPUTS. For example, mine includes
export TEXINPUTS=:.:./Bilder:
and all graphics of my documents are kept in a
subfolder Bilder
