Try using \_ rather than just _ wherever the latter now occurs in text
mode (including in the *.bib file).

Avoiding page numbers on the starting page of every chapter...

Please could you tell me how to attain this:
Avoid page numbers on the starting page of every chapter.
And also stops after Part I, Part II and Part III.

There may be a more glorious way to do this, but I would just embed

\thispagestyle{empty}

-- into the text of the relevant page(s).

Not sure what you mean. Do the page numbers need to reset? You can
use \setcounter{page}{1} to reset to 1 (or whatever other value you
wish).

Hey, please desist from making this into a job hunting/negotiating
place. Anything commercial shall be tagged [commercial] and further
follow up discussions shall be off the list.

Hope that list members will oblige to this request.

Best regards

Kannada in Unicode in LaTeX

I am sure that this must have been asked before but I have not been able
to find it.

I have some Kannada strings that need to go into a PDF. I do not need an
input method like KannadaLatex[1]. I have the strings as Unicode
already. I've tried using the inputenc package but the error was:

Package inputenc Error: Unicode char \u8:ಇ not set up for use
         with LaTeX.

I did find a guide[2] for Hindi that I tried to adapt for Kannada as the
TITUSCBZ font does have Kannada glyphs as well. However, I was unable to
find ttf2tfm.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Kannada in Unicode in LaTeX

Try out xetex.
You have to use fontspec package to specify a unicode compliant
font. The advantage with xetex is you can use truetype fonts.
I have tried xelatex for devanagari and it works. I do not know much about
kannada. Try posting in xetex list.

If you are trying Unicode text input, the proper thing to do would be
to use XeTeX or XeLaTeX instead; there is no way to get what you are
trying to work using just plain TeX or LaTeX.
