You need to produce the outline fonts using mftrace/potrace
in order to use outline fonts in your pdf.

If you want to only use bitmap fonts (not recommended) then you
need to set an appropriate mode for metafont to generate the fonts
at the correct resolution (2602 is too large).

I have not used this package so my information may not be correct.

Does "itrans" support tamil and pdflatex? If so you could try the
fonts from itrans-fonts.

Kapil.

Hi Kapil,

Thanks for the reply.

Ok, I found this out:

The tamilize.c has to be compiled first:

 gcc tamilize.c -o tamilize

For a given .tex file like readme.doc, I had to do:

 ./tamilize readme.doc readme.tex

I had to run tex on readme.tex and it generated the readme.dvi file:

  tex readme.tex

I was then able to convert .dvi to .ps, and then .ps to .pdf using
dvips and ps2pdf respectively.

Request for three new symbols

I am loooking for the following three new symbols to be used in a
document, (where the body font is mathpazo), and the output is generated
with pdfLaTeX. (These symbols resemble some already ia available in
MusiXTeX, harmony packages):

(i) an (upper) semicircle with the central dot, without the
diameter (this resembles the \musixchar80 (\fermataup), but that
symbol is too heavy and thick - I need a slightly lighter version).

(ii) a symbol similar to \musixchar63 (or \AcPA from harmony.sty,
but I need a slightly longer stem, and almost vertically
positioned)

(iii) A -30 degree slant (to left) calligraphic S, with a forward
slash and two dots, that is, \musixchar86 called \segno, but I
need the caligraphic S to be thinner.

I will be using these three symbols as "accent marks" placed over
English letters using "\stackrel".

Unfortunately, MusiXTeX conflicts with mathpazo/Palatino and
some other packages I load, and I get lots of errors).
So, I would prefer these symbols constructed from usually
available symbols, avoiding the usage of MusiXTeX.

Re: TeX vs. Acrobat designer (was: Figs package FigTeX ?)

Hello,

The submitter may not be aware that such a question on
a mailing list that is specifically for tex falls in
the general category known as "troll".

It is generally considered that it is not a good idea to
respond to a "troll" so I am responding only because I think
that the questioner may be a newcomer to mailing lists.

Suggestions to Dr. Banait:

1. Please read the UK TUG FAQ.

2. Read some of the documentation regarding TeX mentioned
   in the UK TUG FAQ.

3. If you still have a question like the following where
   you need to fill in <something> and <various reasons>
   yourself,

	"I would like to do <something> in TeX which I can
	do using acrobat designer but I prefer to use TeX
	for <various reasons>. Can someone help?"

   Then please write to this mailing list with this question.

Here's a sample:

  \documentclass[a4paper]{article}
  \usepackage{array}

  \begin{document}

    \typeout{}
    \typein[\name]{Enter your name}
    \typeout{}
    \typein[\dob]{Enter your date of birth}
    \typeout{}
    \typein[\edu]{Enter your eduactional qualification}

    \begin{center}
      \renewcommand{\arraystretch}{1.5}
      \begin{tabular}{r <at> {.}p{0.4\linewidth} <at> {\,:\,}p{0.5\textwidth}}
        1 & Name                         & \name\\

Rowheight in a table

Hi,

I am trying to typeset a table which has to be split across pages like
shown below:

Page 2                                                       Page 3

                 1  2  3  4  5           6  7  8  9 ...
  |------------|--|--|--|--|--|        |--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|
  |------------|--|--|--|--|--|        |--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|
  |------------|--|--|--|--|--|        |--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|
  |------------|--|--|--|--|--|        |--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|
  |------------|--|--|--|--|--|        |--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|
  |------------|--|--|--|--|--|        |--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|
  |------------|--|--|--|--|--|        |--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|
  |------------|--|--|--|--|--|        |--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|
  |------------|--|--|--|--|--|        |--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|
  |------------|--|--|--|--|--|        |--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|
  |------------|--|--|--|--|--|        |--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|

It is something like a log book of the whole month with days spilling
over to the columns on the next page. I am able to get an approximately
identical table on the right by manipulating \arraystretch, but it is
not good enough. How can I make the table on the right have same row
heights that is set on the left?

The package easytable gives control over equal row heights, but it does
not serve my requirement. Can anyone give me some pointers?

How to remove blank pages?

Hi,

I have 2 queries:

1. I use uqthesis.sty for my thesis. When make pdf, it leaves a blank page
at the end of every chapter whenever the last page of the chapter has
contents less than half the page. It has a page number also. How can I
remove that extra page?

2. Sections seems to start mostly from a fresh page. This spoils the
alignment of the previous page. The text in these pages automatically
adjusts and leaves large blank spaces between paragraphs. Any tips to
correct this?

Thanks in advance
Prince

Re: Figs package FigTeX ?

The problem with this kind of form is that it can not be edited at a later
date, once it is filled and compiled. I am also using "autokeys" (For
autotext), which does not work on dos properly.
Is there any better solution.
