license violation in tetex-texmf-3.0 fixed

Petr Olsak has notified me today, that tetex-texmf-3.0.tar.gz contains
three files which have been modified in a way that violates his license.
The modification had been done by me (as I wrongly assumed that the
license was GPL; in fact the license was "GPL with some additional
restrictions").

So, I just have updated these three files (reverted to the original
version) and replaced the "broken" tetex-texmf-3.0.tar.gz by the fixed
tetex-texmf-3.0po.tar.gz (I had announced that I won't make a new release.
Hey, this does not really count :-) I will take a small ammount of time
until CTAN will see the update.

    Do Mai 25 18:28:58 CEST 2006
        * fixed a copyright violation, caused by distributing modified
          files of cstex / cslatex under their original name. The fix
          reverts to the original files. Affected files:
                tex/cslatex/cslatex.ini
                tex/csplain/cseplain.ini
                tex/csplain/csplain.ini

This update just fixes the copyright violation. I cannot recommend to
download this "update". The version of cstex / cslatex contained in
teTeX-3.0 (both tetex-texmf-3.0.tar.gz and tetex-texmf-3.0po.tar.gz)
is severely broken (e.g. pdfcslatex produces dvi by default). So, if you
are interesed in using cstex / cslatex, better download and install the
latest version.

teTeX: no next release

Hi,

I am sorry to announce some bad news about teTeX: there won't be a next
release. To be more precise: there won't be a next release done by me.

In the past, preparing a release ment to spend all my spare time for
about 2-3 month on getting the release out (in addition to doing regular
updates on yources and the texmf tree). The time spend on it increased
with the size of the distribution.

My current development tree (just as it is today) is available from
  rsync://tug.org/tetexdevsrc/
so if anybody wants to pick it up, just do it.

Basically, teTeX consists of a source tree and a texmf tree with fonts,
macros, configuration, etc.

The source tree of teTeX-3.0 is included 100% in TeX Live
(http://www.tug.org/texlive/) which is released once per year. So,
there is no doubt for me that all the stuff that is now included in the
source tarball will be maintained actively. There are some parts which
have been originally written by me (scripts such as updmap, texconfig,
fmtutil) and I think that it won't be a problem for me to continue to
maintain these things (and submit updates into the TeX Live repository).

The texmf tree of teTeX is a monolitic distribution of individual CTAN
packages. I am unsure if someone else wants to maintain such a monolitic
monster package. I am sure that it would be much better to set up a
package based infrastructure, such as MikTeX's. This infrastructure was
recently ported to Linux, so using this might be a good start. Another

teTeX-3.0

I am pleased to announce release 3.0 of the teTeX distribution. It was
promised for "sometime in 2004" and I have only slightly missed that
goal. Thanks to everone who has helped to get this out!

The teTeX homepage (http://tug.org/teTeX/) now has some files of the
source distribution (e.g. the INSTALL document) and the complete doc tree
of the texmf distribution (http://tug.org/teTeX/tetex-texmfdist/doc/)
online, so you can see in detail what you get before you download /
install.

Help with babel in tetex

I need some body to help me in that:

I want hyphenation of the spanish language. I did the following
1. I run as root the texconfig utility
2. I selected hyphen option
3. An delete the %! in the spanish sphyphen.tex line
4. then I saved the changes.

But when a run latex dont load the hyphenation for the spanish language. I have
suse 9.1 professional.
