Re: TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [main memory size=2000001]

Dear Ulrike, I am not sure if you are still active in the forum. It just came
to my notice that you are acting smart in your answer. People come here not
to see how smartass you are but to get help! Good day!

No, she was not.

They surely don't come here to see how dumbass you are.

Re: TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [main memory size=2000001]

I agree. I always find that Ulrike answers the question, and provides helpful suggestions. Tone in emails
is always tricky, so it's much better to focus on results. Ulrike seems to get results.

With gnu software, you have few options. Let's not be ridiculous in the way we look at answers.

Pban92, have you sent money to Christian? If not, why not?

I certainly was very irritated.

There is type of uncommunicative people who are unwilling/unable to
give the informations needed to answer a question. They sent only
the smallest possible code snippets, no log-files, no error
messages, only say "it doesn't work" and if asked to provide more
details (like a small complete example) they either disappear,
ignore the request, give only the smallest piece of information
possible or even get rude. They simply don't understand that they
have to give something before getting an answer back.

Discussions with such peoples are tiresome and often fruitless. Imho
it was quite smart from me to quit.

Btw: pban92 asked such a unsatisfactory a tex.stackexchange
(http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/27154/tex-capacity-memory-exceeded-error)
and it looks as if he/she tumbled over the old miktex thread while
trying to avoid to have to provide more details -- and probably
he/she was quite frustrated that such a promising thread ended so
abruptly.

installing package automatically each time I compile

Hello all,
I wonder what I did wrong that causes miktex to start the package manager to install some packages (e.g.,
ifxextex) on the fly *every time* I run pdflatex. Luckily disabling the install on the fly option solved
the problem, but there is surely a better way. Any thoughts are welcome.
Thank you,
Nicolae

This can happen when the local package database gets out of sync.

Synchronize the repository (package manager, menu repositories). If
you have a multiuser installation: do it in user + admin mode. Also
update the FNDB also in user + admin mode.

Proxy Authentication does not work

Hi,
we are using an ISA Server 2006 with proxy authentication.

Unfortunately I can't update my MikTex installation because the
authentication does not work.
I tried with "Domain\username" and "username <at> domain".
Every time I got an error message that the authentication fails and that
the server needs authentication to forward my request.

Any ideas?

Thanks & BR Peter

mthelp doesn't work as usual

Since some time ago (I don't now when) mthelp doesn't work as I was used.
When I wanted to look for some package documentation, just writing
something like
'mthelp booktabs' in start->execute, the browser (Opera) showed a new tab
with a link to dvi, pdf or any other possible document.

Now nothing happens and doing it from a command window next message is
shown:

mthelp: The viewer could not be started.

Do you now how to solve the problem?

Thank you

Ignasi
