Not sure if this has been previously been raised, but MiKTeX 2.6 is the last version to support Windows 95/98
and MiKTeX 2.8 (which I know has another 2 years to run) is the last version to support Windows 2000. While I
totally agree with the idea that you don't maintain current versions on very old (and unsupported)
operating systems, it does seem odd that the repositories are completely erased.

How difficult would it be to host single zip files containing the final frozen snapshot of MiKTeX 2.6 and

Trouble with hyperref.sty

Dear All,

I´ve got a problem while generating the pdf of my study-work document.

The error message sounds as follows:

Program Files\MiKTeX 2.9\tex\latex\hyperref\hyperref.sty(3889): Fehler:
Package hyperref Error: Wrong driver option `pdftex',

I got this message after the update of my installed packages.

I was using mikTeX 2.8 before installing Version 2.9

The error message has been the same with version 2.8

How can I solve the problem?

I´d be glad to hear from somebody who can tell me about a workaround or any
other option!

Sincerely yours

Lutz from Germany

Re: Trouble with hyperref.sty

You need to find out exactly what part of your document is causing the
problem. Make a copy and start cutting things out of it. You can
probably cut nearly all of it and still have the problem. But if some
cut gets rid of the problem, then put that part back in and cut
others.

You may solve your problem yourself by doing this. For example you
may find some instruction that you have entered incorrectly.

If you do not solve the problem that way, then you will end up with
some minimal file that shows the problem. Then people will be better
able to help you with that.

best, Colin

Correct your document. Don't tell hyperref that you are using
pdflatex (with pdf output) when you are actually running latex or
xelatex.

MiKTeX 2.9 Source Code

`The download link on http://www.miktex.org/sources is broken and the
Subversion path refers to a non-existent branch (2.9). Which revision of
trunk is the release version of MiKTeX 2.9?

i see you removed the default space in "MiKTeX 2.7". is that on purpose? i seem to remember that some older
versions only liked 8.3 paths. are there maybe still some remnants of that?

i have no other ghostscript installed and if i remove that gs_fntem.ps at the expected location i get an
error message. so that cannot be the problem.

i was too late for that. i guess i am forced to install 2.9 now anyway. would have been interesting to figure
that one out.

thanks for all your help anyway.

I don't use spaces in folder and file names if I can. This avoids to
having to think about proper quoting and other problems.

Well you wrote that you did install another ghostscript: "(normally
i am quite computer savvy, but this just doesnt give me a clue,
except i installed ghostscript, but to no avail):"

Also it never hurts to check the environment variables. I remember a
discussion where a problem was solved after an old environment
variable from a previous miktex version has been removed.

It can hard to determine if ghostscript is installed because it is often
included with 3rd party applications (e.g, matlab).

miktex (2.9) configuration utility failed

greetings mailing list members.

i just installed miktex 2.9, upon clicking update formats i got the message "The MiKTeX configuration
utility failed. Do you want to see the transcript?". this is the transcript (is the 5 year thing the
problem? it sounds like it can ignore that and it doesnt say which file).

thanks.
