I didn't do the update, but the dtx should be sufficient. Most
distributions use the dtx to generate the rest.

Best,

I know that, of course. However, most beginners don't know of that.

Re: How about updating CTAN run/ dir and archive file

Dear Hendri,

I am a little bit confused with the powerdot versions:

1. On CTAN, if I build powerdot from powerdot.dtx (in the zip file) , I get v1.3 with blackslide, ...
[2005/12/06 v1.3 powerdot presentation class (HA,CE)]
2. In 2008, the version was 1.4 [2008/08/24 v1.4 powerdot presentation class (HA,CE)] with pauseslide
(instead of blackslide), nohandoutpagebreaks (instead of nopagebreak), cf, ... Moreover, this
version corrected some small bugs and it is the one I am currently using for all my presentations without
any trouble.

Could you let me which one is the official version and what are the differences between the old 1.4 and the new 1.3.

Thanks a lot,

Patrice

The CTAN version is always the official one. You can always run
another version locally.

Re: How about updating CTAN run/ dir and archive file

Dear Hendri,

Thanks for this answer.

Does it mean that pauseslide, center footer, ... are no longer supported ?

To stay up-to-date with the version, I have no trouble to come back to version 1.3 but can you let me know what
functionalities (if any) will disappear.

Moreover, if I download the source file powerdot.dtx dated of 2010-03-06 on CTAN (so not in the zip file) and
build the powerdot.cls, I still get version 1.3 of 2005/12/06, so no difference with the already compiled
version on CTAN.

Would you be kind to send me the last official version of powerdot.dtx so I can make my powerdot system
correctly maintained. It is important because powerdot is really is very good package for presentations
(and in combination with the animate package, great slides can be done) and I don't want to loose time by
using an obsolete version.

Thanks a lot.

Best regards,

Patrice

Re: How about updating CTAN run/ dir and archive file

Dear Hendri,

Patrice's message reminded me of the loss of version 1.4

Out of curiosity I searched my hard disk and I do have the dtx file for
version 1.4. The one I have it is dated:
\def\fileversion{v1.4}
\def\filedate{2008/08/24}

Would this help in any way in merging those changes back into the
current version 1.3?
I am also using version 1.4, and very happy with it.

By the way thanks for powerdot! I use it for all my many teaching
lectures, which are many.

Best wishes,

Pedro.

Dear Pedro,

Yes, please send the 1.4 to my personal address, thank you, also for
the nice words.

Re: How about updating CTAN run/ dir and archive file

Patrice,

I hope to have some time soon to work on powerdot, but there are no
guarantees. The 1.4 got lost by a hdd crash. The official version is
on CTAN. The dtx builds a cls with the same date, indeed, because the
dtx is an emergency build because geometry had changed.

Best,
-Hendri.

Dear Hendri,

Thanks for your answer.

If it can help you, here is a zip file with the version 1.4 of powerdot.
