CTAN update: tif2eps 0.79

On Tue, 1 Mar 2005, Staszek Wawrykiewicz sumitted version 0.79 of
the package

  tif2eps

to CTAN.

Authors: Boguslaw Jackowski, P. Pianowski and P. Strzelczyk
License: GPL
Location on CTAN: support/pstools/tif2eps

TIF2EPS is a PostScript program for the conversion of TIFF files (ver. 6.0)
to EPS ones. Compression (LZW, CCITT Fax, RLE, Flate, DCT) and ASCII85
encoding is available. The package may be used for generating colour-
separated EPSes, `EPS thumbnails,' and, moreover, little header EPSes,
containing only a pointer to a source TIFF file. Employing Ghostscript
  guarantees portability and efficient processing.

News in ver. 0.79: A bug in -o2 (ovewrite if newer) option fixed.

Thanks for the update.

CTAN package update: mf2pt1

A package has been updated on tug.ctan.org and should soon be at your
favorite mirror.

Thank you for the upload,
Jim Hefferon

======================================================================

The following information was provided by the package's contributor.

Name of contribution: mf2pt1
Author's name: Scott Pakin
Location on CTAN: /support/mf2pt1/
Summary description: Produce PostScript Type 1 fonts directly from
  Metafont source
License type: lppl

Announcement text given by the package's contributor:
- - ----------------------------------------------------------------------
mf2pt1 facilitates producing PostScript Type 1 fonts
directly from a Metafont source file without losing
quality to autotracers. mf2pt1 is not, as the name may
imply, an automatic converter of arbitrary Metafont
fonts to Type 1 format. The program imposes a number
of restrictions on the Metafont input. If these
restrictions are met, mf2pt1 will produce valid Type 1
output with more accurate control points than can be
reverse-engineered by TeXtrace, mftrace, and other
programs which convert bitmaps to outline fonts.

CTAN Update: preview-latex 0.9

On Thu, 3 Mar 2005, David Kastrup submitted version 0.9 of his package

  preview-latex

and a separate package called

  preview

Locations on CTAN:
  support/preview-latex
and
  macros/latex/contrib/preview
License: GPL

Release notes for version 0.9 of the preview-latex package:

preview-latex makes LaTeX a tightly integrated component of your
editing workflow by visualizing selected source chunks (such as single
formulas or graphics) directly as images in the source buffer.
You get to have your eye candy and edit it, too.

The employed style file preview.sty is independently useful for
extraction of selected text elements as images. EPS Graphics that
were created using dvips can now be used with the tightpage option,
and some new commands and options are available for selecting
previews.

The package is released under the GNU Public License (GPL). At the
current point of time, at least GNU Emacs-21.3 under the X window
system or XEmacs-21 in version 21.4.10 or later, AUCTeX (11.51 or

CTAN update: LM fonts

On Sat, 5 Mar 2005, Staszek Wawrykiewicz uploaded version 0.98 of the
Latin Modern font family to CTAN.

Authors: JNSteam
License: GPL
Location on CTAN: fonts/lm

The Latin Modern family of fonts are based on the Computer Modern fonts
in the PostScript Type 1 format, released into public domain by the
American Mathematical Society. The fonts, as compared to the CM family,
contain a lot of additional characters, mainly accented ones, but not only.
The current package for TeX users contains:
Latin Modern fonts in the PostScript Type 1 format plus all requisites
for using the fonts with TeX/pdfTeX; there is one set of PostScript fonts
and five sets of TeX Font Metric files, corresponding to:
-- EC (Cork) encoding (ec-*.tfm),
-- QX encoding (qx-*.tfm),
-- TeX'n'ANSI aka LY1 encoding (texnansi-*.tfm),
-- T5 (Vietnamese) encoding (t5-*.tfm),
-- Text Companion for EC fonts aka TS1 (ts1-*.tfm).
LaTeX *.sty and *.fd files were also added plus a few test files.

Thanks for the upload.
