CTAN submission: EPM TeX Front End 4.0 (OS/2)

----- Forwarded message from Walter Schmidt -----
I have uploaded the file epmtfe.zip to the /incoming
directory at dante.ctan.org. Please, delete all files
and subdirectories from the CTAN directory

	systems/os2/epmtfe

and unpack the uploaded ZIP file to this directory then.
(Please, do not unpack the enclosed archives.)

This is version 4.0 of the "EPM TeX Front End", a module
for the OS/2 "Enhanced Editor" EPM. It turns the EPM
into an integrated TeX environment, providing (La)TeXing,
previewing and executing of auxiliary programs from the
editor menu.  Remarkable features are:

* (La)TeX errors are highlighted in the document source;
* Postscript support (dvips conversion on-the-fly);
* optional TeXing of a marked region of a file;
* support for split source file;
* OS/2 shell and WPS interface;
* optional LaTeX syntax assist;
* additional user-definable menu items;
* works also in conjunction with VTeX/2;
* stable, reliable, and esay to use.

Two flavors of the TeX Front End are provided:

* "classic": for use with any TeX system,
  including emTeX and VTeX/2

new sansmath on ctan

donald arseneau has submitted a new package sansmath.sty (pd licence),
and i've installed it in macros/latex/contrib/other/misc

the package defines a new math version 'sans', and a command \sansmath
that behaves somewhat like \boldmath. detailed documentation is to be
found in the package file itself.

as always, thanks, donald.

new release of uk tex faq (v3.5)

i've installed a new version of the uk tex faq, on ctan
(help/uk-tex-faq), on the www.tex.ac.uk/faq web page, and for
distributors on the private address they will already know.

this new version has a few more questions answered, a number of
updates and corrections of old answers, but textually there's been
little change.

the web appearance has changed slightly, but the big difference is
that there is now a "seach via google" link (which specialises the
search you request so that it only looks at the faq: Hans Nordhaug
found this facility for me). i would welcome users' views on this
addition: the existence of the google facility obviously saves me the
trouble of writing a "proper" search mechanism (which has long been
delayed on my list of things-to-do), but if users dislike the google
arrangement, it won't continue.

as always, i welcome comments about, or suggestions or (best of all) actual
text, for the faq. submissions should be sent to faq@...

CTAN submission: updated font metrics for Lucida Bright and LuxiMono

Walter Schmidt asked us to update two packages:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have uploaded the file lucida-20030312.zip to the /incoming
directory at dante.ctan.org. Please, unpack it to the CTAN
directory
           fonts/metrics/bh/lucida

thus replacing the current files and adding some new ones.

These are updated fonts metrics and VFs for Y&Y's commercial
LucidaBright fonts. Recent improvements to the "fontinst"
tool and changes to the TeXBase1 encoding made it possible
to fix some long-standing deficiencies:

* all typewriter fonts have got vertically centered
  asterisks now;

* all textcompanion fonts have got vertically centered
 \textaskeriskcented symbols now;

* the Omega symbol \textohm is made available in all
  textcompanion fonts.

See the file "readme.lucida" for further minor changes,
which affect the layout of the distribution.

I am fully aware, that these font metrics were updated only
recently. Thus, it may seem as if an important piece of
software has become unstable as soon as I started touching
