[RFC] glibc update (to 2.3-branch 2004-12-24)


Hi all,

(I'm in a hurry so only some quickly written shorter mails.)

As discussed previously I tried to update glibc to a more stable base 
using the new 2.3-branch, with a checkout dated 2004-12-24.

It builds on x86 and PowerPC and shows no stability issues so far.

So far it only shows a few regressions due to malloc conclicts:

5-a2ps.err:path-concat.c:34: error: conflicting types for 'malloc'
5-kterm.err:button.c:44: error: conflicting types for 'malloc'
5-tcp_wrappers.err:scaffold.c:28: error: conflicting types for 'malloc'

and I think:

5-ntfsprogs.err:ntfsclone.c:914: error: `block_size' undeclared (first 
use in this function)

Of course fixable within some minutes.

Total errors so far:

Error logs from default-2.1.0-beta3-x86-pentium-mmx-32-desktop-expert:

[RFC] Copyright note content


Hi all,

you might have already noticed that I did the necessary Create-CopyPatch 
work during the year flip.

This is a call for comments about what texts we should implant - e.g. 
take a look how I modified the text in SVN:HEAD:

[RFC] T2 domain to be registered


Hi all,

of course www.exactcode.de was never intended as permanent site for the 
T2 project - although we do not have a problem to keep it there for PR 
reasons ;-(

But I think it looks more professional and should increase the community 
feeling in favour of the "this is a ExactCode product" look it has now.

We already discussed some possible domains on IRC, so far we have:

   t2-sde.org
   t2sde.org
   t2-project.org

To bad t2.org is already grabbed ... :-(

I think we agree that T2 already got to known to change to some more 
colorful name in the style of Fedora or so. So we should stick with it, 
shouldn't we?

Votes or other suggestions are very welcome.

Sounds strange, how come that there are malloc conflicts?

What kind of hint do you have that it is related to fl_wrapper?

These packages have some maloc prototype in the source that does not 
match the one of glibc anymore. E.g. __THROW or so missing; in the way 
we had to fix the errno definitions months ago.

That make segfaults after the libc.so get's installed. But freshly 
started processes do not suffer such problems, neither does a subsequent 
glibc build. I review in detail later.
