[Puppet Users] Re: Puppet camp - transportation to SFSU?

I did a cab ride there and rode the metro back.

It's about 20 minutes in a cab and > $20 and took me 35 minutes with the walk on the metro.

If you have a car there is first come first serve parking right next to the venue or a parking garage a little ways up the road.

I'll work up a map in the next hour or two and post what I understand to be reasonable options.

I somehow got a people-mover as a rental car (go Hertz!) so I can take
at least 5 more people. I'm at the Hyatt, but could swing past the
Serrano in the morning.

I have a small car in which I can place about 3 extra people.
I'm at the Hotel Executive Vintage Court near Union Square (but can
pick-up people somewhere else of course).

I also need a copilot that konws how to read a map :-)

To: DorkbotSF-blabber <dorkbotsf-blabber <at> dorkbot.org>
Subject: [dorkbotsf-blabber] Noisebridge Year 1 Open Hacker House - Oct 2nd‏ (this Friday)

At Noisebridge we're celebrating our first birthday this Friday night!

We're having an open house anniversary party, and everyone is totally welcome to come by and check out our brand new, huge, wonderful space in The Mission.  We'll have lots of projects on display, live music performances, VJs, some short presentations, and art all over the place.

Noisebridge owes it's existence to Dorkbot, since it is what inspired me and Jake (the two original founders) to think of something as crazy and awesome as starting a hacker space, where people can come together in a community of like-minded geeks, dorks, and nerds, to share and learn and teach, and play, and hang -- every day, all year 'round.  And here we are, 1 year after we rented our first physical space, and we're thriving!

Come on by and help us all celebrate some of the successes we've experienced in our first year:  electronics projects, security hacks, fabrication, music, video, photography, blinky lights, and lots more!  There should be plenty to quench your thirst, and good food to nibble.

Please feel free to bring your friends.  Stop in for a few minutes on your way from one place to another, or stay the night.

Here's more info:

http://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Year1

Location: The New Noisebridge, 2169 Mission Street San Francisco CA (near 18th St.)

Date: Friday October 2nd

Time: 6 pm - ?

Who's invited: Everyone geeky, all ages

Cost:  Free!  As with Dorkbot, Noisebridge is always open to everyone, and our events are free.   Of course, we take donations -- and we're a 501(c)(3), so donations are even tax-deductible.

Cheers,

Mitch.

[Puppet Users] Puppet Camp... Attire?

Really dumb question. Since this is the first year of Puppet Camp (right?), and there are no pictures from previous years to look at (hey, I'm OCD), what's the general clothing attire for tomorrow? Are we talking business casual, or is the environment more casual, jeans etc? Just asking, because I always seem to get it wrong and end up looking like a major dorkus. :)

I'll be wearing my utilikilt and broadsword.... oh wait.

I'm just wearing jeans and a t-shirt and I am presenting so I figure
I represent the "dressed up" end of the crowd... :)

[Puppet Users] Re: Puppet camp - transportation to SFSU?

I created a google map with a little markup on the venue and the best place to park.

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=105906588802238025565.000474da54e0f5fff2435&ll=37.724505,-122.480392&spn=0.004684,0.011319&t=h&z=17

Try to coordinate with each other or find groups to take a cab.

Riding the muni is also an option, but the train station is a walk across campus.

If anyone needs anything try my cell 615.554.8774 and I'll see what I can do.

See everyone tomorrow.

Ooh from the man himself.

When I used to get in trouble as a kid, my mom would ask me, if James Turnbull went and stuck his head in an oven, would you do the same thing? I always answered yes. :)

Wear whatever makes you comfortable.

Geek T-shirts are great, but you won't be turned away if you have a shirt with buttons either... :)

Unfortunatelly there's no info there regarding tests there and since tests are
required to consider including a type/provider in Puppet I agree that it
would be useful to have something more.
