Cannot sync iPhone and osx application

First I had the 'negative priority issue'; the sync would crash when finished, and when restarting the app,
no tasks were shown.

I corrected one task with a negative priority, and now the sync never finishes. The iPhone loses Wifi signal
somehow and the sync stops somewhere halfway. The iPhone never loses the 3 bar Wifi signal with other use.

Sounds familiar to anyone? I have some 150 tasks in my database.

[ANN] Release 1.3.7 of Task Coach

Hi,

We're happy to announce release 1.3.7 of Task Coach. This is a bug fix
release.

Bugs fixed:
- Paste as subitem didn't work for efforts. (SF#3479734)
- Hiding inactive tasks would also hide some active tasks. (SF#3479952)
- Setting the task font back to the default font in the preferences dialog
  wouldn't work.
- Put a little bit of white space to the right of the priority column in the
task viewer to separate the numbers from the scroll bar. (SF#3479686)
- Disable the Anonymize menu item if there is no task file. (SF#3482373)
- After removing an actual start date of a task with effort and saving and
opening the task file, the task would still have an actual start date
(based on the earliest effort). (SF#3478684, SF#3479444)
- Marking an inactive task active wouldn't properly update the task icon from
  grey to blue. (SF#3479444)
- Exporting to iCalendar wouldn't work if the subject or description had non-
  ASCII characters. (SF#3483124)

Feature removed:
- The more complex filtering options for hiding tasks have been removed. The
  complexity was causing bugs.

What is Task Coach?

Task Coach is a simple task manager that allows for hierarchical tasks,
i.e. tasks in tasks. Task Coach is open source (GPLv3+) and is developed
using Python and wxPython. You can download Task Coach from:

Filtering completed, repeating tasks

I have a task called "Daily Routine" with several subtasks ("Plan the day," "Check email," "Phone calls,"
etc.). Because they are daily, the task and subtasks all repeat every day and have the category ".Today".

After I've planned each day, I view the day's tasks through a filter. First I select: View > Filter >
Completed Tasks > Hide all completed tasks. Then I select View > Filter > Categories > .Today. Now I have a
short list with tasks such as "Daily Routine -> Check email."

The problem comes when I finish one of the subtasks. When I mark the subtask as completed, TC moves it to the
bottom of the list (in List of Tasks view). But the filter should be hiding the completed task -- at least
that's how I understand the way TC works.

I also expect that the next day the repeating tasks are no longer marked as completed. So they'll show up
again in the filtered view.

Am I missing something? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a trick here? Is this a bug?

Thanks.

Archive Completed Tasks?

Hi,

I'm a newbie and will probably be asking some stupid questions over the next few days. Please forgive me
while I get up to speed.

First question: Is there a way to archive completed tasks? I saw a tread discussing deleting completed
tasks. It seems to me that archiving would be a good way to save the information in tasks without having them
clutter the live TC file.

[ANN] Release 1.3.6 of Task Coach

Hi,

We're happy to announce release 1.3.6 of Task Coach. This is a bug fix
release.

Bugs fixed:
- The link on the website for downloading sources pointed to the iOS
  downloads.
- Task Coach couldn't deal with circular dependencies between tasks.
  (SF#3477762, SF#3477637)
- The default actual start date and time couldn't be set in the preferences.
  (SF#3478747)

What is Task Coach?

Task Coach is a simple task manager that allows for hierarchical tasks,
i.e. tasks in tasks. Task Coach is open source (GPLv3+) and is developed
using Python and wxPython. You can download Task Coach from:

http://taskcoach.org/

In addition to the source distribution, packaged distributions are available
for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and BSD.

Note that although we consider Task Coach to be stable software,
and we do our best to prevent bugs, it is always wise to back up your task
file regularly, and especially when upgrading to a new release.

Copying or cutting an effort to move it from one task to another

Hi,

I wonder if it is possible to move an effort from one task to another, i.e. cut it in task A and paste it to task B
(or copy it from task A, paste it to task B and delete it in task A).

With TaskCoach 1.3.4 on Ubuntu 10.04, any effort I have copied or cut from task A will always ONLY be pasted
back into task A, never task B.

I have tried two ways: 1) open task B dialog while task A dialog is still open, 2) close task A dialog, then open
task B dialog. Even in case 2 the effort is "secretly" pasted back to task A, with its dialog being closed.

Should I open a bug report for this?

Yves

[ANN] Release 1.3.5 of Task Coach

Hi,

We're happy to announce release 1.3.5 of Task Coach. This is a mixed feature
and bug fix release.

Bugs fixed:
- After a reminder of a recurring task had been dismissed, Task Coach would
not create a new reminder when recurring the task. (SF#3469217)
- When the user is not using a translation, still set the locale so that the
proper formatting for dates and numbers is used. (SF#3091934)
- Sorting case sensitive didn't work.
- Categories of notes belonging to tasks and categories weren't saved.
  (SF#3474487)
- On OpenSuse, Task Coach would crash when changing the width of columns.

Features added:
- Note categories are now synced as well (SyncML)
- Add "actual start date" attribute to tasks.
- Add toolbar buttons and menu items for marking tasks inactive, active and
  completed.
- When exporting to iCal, include percentage complete of a task in the
  exported data.

Feature changed:
- Rename "start date" to "planned start date" to enable adding a separate
"actual start date" attribute to tasks.

Website change:
- Redesigned website using Twitter Bootstrap. (index.html)

bug in new task

Hello there,

If I create a new task, opening up the new task dialogue and, for some reason whatsoever, decide do cancel that action by pressing cancel, the changes are saved and the new task created.

Is this a bug or is it, don’t know why, intended?

Miguel

Sync with todo.txt

Hello,

I tried to get syncing working between task coach and todo.txt by
switching on the automatic import/export during saving. However, what I
noticed and what appears coherent is that changes I did in task coach
before saving get lost when importing the data from todo.txt (assuming
that the task I edit was already present in todo.txt). So, I suppose
what is required is to import data from todo.txt at startup rather than
before saving.

To illustrate the event chain:
1. possibly changes in todo.txt
2. starting task coach and importing
3. changes in task coach
4. saving and exporting
5. changes in todo.txt
(6. automatic import to task coach)
7. changes in task coach
...

The only drawback of startup import rather than import at saving is that
possible changes in todo.txt that are made during running task coach get
lost (but it's save if one uses only one application at a time and
closes task coach if not used). To solve this minor issue task coach had
to import todo.txt before any edits (and if a considerable amount of
time has passed since last import).
Do I miss something?

Thanks,
Sascha

Problem with sync to iphone

Hi

I'm having a problem syncing certain sub-tasks to my iphone

I have my tasks spread out over a number of categories, and most tasks are split into subtasks which
generally do not carry the category

In addition I have categories called "This Week" and "Today".

At the start of the week I add the "this week" category to any tasks or subtasks I'm planning to do during the
week, and subsequently also add the "today" category as I plan each day.

This all works fine on my macbook, and selecting category "today" shows all the tasks and/or subtasks I need
to complete during the day. Ideally I'd like to see the same list on my phone.

When I sync to iphone however the list shown under the today and this week category show only items that are
present at the task level, and not items present at the subtask level ( I suspect this may be because the task
sitting above the subtask is not categorised as "today".

The subtask does however appear on the iphone in the category its parent task belongs.

Is there any way that subtasks can sync on the phone showing all categories to which they are attached and not
just the categories of their parent task?

Calendar Info

Hi,

I'm working with the calendar, trying to get it to list everything I have to do in a day. When I choose "Tasks
with a start date" I not only get the specific tasks, but also the main category their in and any
sub-categories they may be in. Whenever I add a task due date, it goes to the parent category and adds a due
date there and also to any sub-tasks that may be ahead of them in the hiearchy. This means that I have two
"tasks" that have dates on them that I didn't put any dates on them.

for instance I have a category of Business. Under Business I have the sub-task of Business Plan. Under that I
have Life Coaching. The task that I actually added a date to is a section of the Business Plan called
Marketing. That is the only thing that needs to show up on my calendar. Is there some way to get just that to
show up? When I deleted the dates off the sub-tasks and the main category it also deleted it off of the task itself.

Thanks, Sadaajit
