Re: how to best remove extra working copies

Hi,

Upgraded from ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04. It is all working. Few 'fsvs commits'
done without problems. Today, I try to commit - some problem. I try
"fsvs sync-repos" (usually it fix everything :) - again problem. So, I
am stuck. Please check below.

Note: I try to execute both commands 3 times, always the same error.
Then reboot and try again - the same error.

Problems: "Transaction is out of date" and "Invalid argument"

Hi (again),

Sorry for my previous email with wrong subject.
About "Invalid argument" - as I understand, problem is '/bin/star' which
was installed few months ago and also commited.

Unversioning a non versioned file

Hi,

I have an ignored directory which is not versioned (not added, not in
svn repository), like this...
group:ignore,./home/user/**

By mistake, I executed following command...
fsvs unversion /home/user/path/file

And here the result...
n..... dir /home/user/path

Which looks wrong.

regards,
Plamen.

FSVS recovery giving me "Out of memory"

Hi All,

I am trying to recover data from a backup I made to an external hard drive using FSVS.

I am issuing the command "fsvs checkout -d . file:///home/disk02/repository/trunk/u" and I get the

FSVS tries to interpret the file as a device.

What does
  svn pl -v file://localhost/media/backup/backup/fsvs/trunk/base/bin/star
give?

You could try
file://localhost/media/backup/backup/fsvs/trunk/base/bin/star

Versioning your /etc, /home or even your whole installation?
             Try fsvs (fsvs.tigris.org)!

FSVS tries to interpret the file as a device.

What does
  svn pl -v file://localhost/media/backup/backup/fsvs/trunk/base/bin/star
give?

You could try to remove the bad svn:special property, or simply do
  svn rm file://localhost/media/backup/backup/fsvs/trunk/base/bin/star
then try the sync-repos again.

But "sync-repos" should *never* be necessary in normal operation - if some command
doesn't work right out of the box, please tell me, so I can fix that.

You're right, that's a bug.

I'll see that it gets fixed.

Good for you. Yes, I'll have to take a look at that ... but that'll take some time.

That means that the repository has a newer version of this entry (/proc) than FSVS
reports as being locally.

Do you work on this repository from another WC too?
Next time you could try "fsvs update".

That's the same problem as before, in the other thread.

I don't think that you are doing anything wrong. The machine is certainly big enough
this usage.

Could you please run that command, and while it's running go to another console and run
  top -b -d 1 -p `pidof fsvs`
to get some information about the memory usage?

If you've got a third shell, you might also do
  strace -tt -p <pid of fsvs>
and send me the last few lines.

What version of FSVS and subversion are you using?

If it's a problem needing a fast solution, you could try to checkout the various
directories - so eg. "bin", "etc", "sbin", "usr" etc. instead of "/"; the clean up the
wrong working copies, and do a "sync-repos" ... but I wouldn't advise that, it's too
much work. And your checkout should simply work!
