Re: [FT] Will trade an eMate for a MP2100

I have a 2100 with a dongle issue -- the keyboard works fine, but the
serial connection does not. So if you're intending to connect via
PCMCIA it's a great unit, otherwise not.

Does your eMate have the hinge fix? And working batteries?

Card Error

Uh, oh:

"This card cannot become read due to an error (-10557). To use this card, you
must first erase it."

I had added text to an internally-stored note after inserting a memory card. The
card's preferences were set to store new information on the card. Upon
duplicating the note, I received the card error and, thereafter, the card cannot
not be used—inserting it prompts the error message. I have a lot of information
stored on this card, which I'd like to recover. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,
Neal

Re: Card Error

I just did a quick glance of the archives for that error number. It
doesn't look promising.
The scenario you describe doesn't seem correct, an internally stored
note or any other data should not automatically transfer to an
inserted card even if it has store new data to card. Due to concerns
about notes, names and dates data spread onto several memory
locations, I started selecting the option in each of these apps to
always store to the internal store. I had an incident similar to
yours and lost both names and notes.
If you have another card I would recommend first backing you internal
store to it or to your computer. Then insert card with no apps
running, if it mounts do not try to run or transfer Notes or notes
data but perhaps you can save other info.
If you must erase card, open Prefs and insert card with Prefs open.

Good luck
Woody

SilverWARE done with us?

Just tried to take a look at PowerNames (almost 12 years after the
last time I took a look at it) and I get a 404 error. Site's still up
for iPhone people, though.

Re: SilverWARE done with us?

I sent them a message on Twitter in regards to Moreinfo, and never got a
response.

Is it worth pressuring them to release codes for the software they don't
want to support anymore?

Cheers

Re: SilverWARE done with us?

Hi Neal

Check out: http://myapplenewton.blogspot.com/2010/08/powernames-reviewed.html

Scott Silverman kindly enquired by email on how I was doing just after the
earthquake last week: info <at> silverwaresoftware.com

Perhaps they just reorganised their website making the usual link addresses out
of date.

Cheers

Thanks for the link Tony! Wow, your blog is an absolute treasure trove of
information :) I'm enjoying reading up on all the info I have missed over
the years.

Hope you and your family are staying safe in Christchurch.

Cheers

Rod

PS Would you happen to know if the Charlotte Jane bed and Breakfast on
Papanui Rd made it through okay? My wife and I stayed there on the last
night of our honeymoon in NZ before flying home to West OZ - it was one of
many highlights of our stay in Christchurch :)

Re: SilverWARE done with us?

Hullo Rod

Thx for the compliment.

Regarding the Charlotte Jane, I haven't been along that way as it is fairly
close to the cordon area and everyone is avoiding that route in the interests of
keeping it free for USAR & other emergency traffic.

As soon as I find out something I'll let you know. No one is answering the
phone there, which isn't a good sign.

Cheers
