I am a professional Visual Basic 6 Programmer. It is what I am writing
Ladle, my sync utility, in. My son, who is also a professional VB
programmer, is very familiar with the GPL license. Plus he wrote the C
wrapper for the DIL DLL I am using. If you want, he and I will take this
project on and I'll set Ladle aside for a couple of weeks.

HWR gripes

I just noticed again today that my Nintendo DS has better HWR than my
Palm Lifedrive does. Close to the Newton's, in fact.
The main thing I miss about my 2100 was the 14 hours I spent training
it to do my HWR were well worth it.
I keep hoping with the OSX86 project and the iPhone, that I can
somehow hack OSX onto the Palm.

[ANN] Someone has taken UNNA.org...

... namely me, Morgan Aldridge.

I've moved www.unna.org & tools.unna.org over to my server in
anticipation of the main www.unna.org server in Tampa, FL, going
offline tomorrow. However, I'm still about 10MB shy of the full
mirrors.unna.org dataset, so if anyone else has already downloaded
the full mirrors.unna.org torrent and would be able to seed for a
while tonight, that would be greatly appreciated.

My server will only be part of the final home for UNNA, but it'll get
us through the next couple of weeks while I balance the UNNA.org
bandwidth usage. So, please be gentle with the services in the meantime.

After moving UNNA over to my server and performing some testing I've
fixed a few bugs and introduced some new ones (although minor). The
current list of bugs is as follows (with solutions in the pipeline):

* /icons/pkg.gif generates a 404 error, even though the file exists.
* PHP does not have GD installed, so Captcha images on WikiWikiNewt
are not generated (making it impossible to update pages).
* E-mail is not yet being forwarded to my server.

Please let me know if you have any questions or run into any other
bugs in the meantime.

Act! Manual

Hi folks,

I noticed the other day that someone was looking for a manual for ACT!
for the Newton. I didn't know where it was at the time, but I just
found the ACT! User's Guide and Reference that came along with my
MP2100 back when I bought it used several years ago.

I never used ACT! and, unfortunately, the floppies for the software are
long deceased, but I've got this manual, and if anybody really wants it
I'm happy send it out for the cost of postage. First come, first serve
(if more than one person actually needs it.)

Contact me off list if interested: pglaze at rcn.com

Lists in NewtonWorks?

Hi all.

Is there a way to do bulleted lists in Newton Works? I can't seem to
find anything in the archives on this.

Cheers

Courier Web Browser

Hi Folks,

Just curious, is anybody using the Courier web browser on a regular
basis? I'm asking because I was trying it out today and having some
trouble getting it to work (48009 errors) and I'm trying to decide if
it's even worth spending time on. For the rare times I use my newton
for web access I usually use Newtscape.

Thanks,

Peter Glaze

I can do that with Point Pro. But I think there is a way with a
freeware extension. Though I can't think of the name offhand. Works
Better may do this, but I don't think so.

I have been seeding for a couple of days now. Both the UNNA library and the
Newton Museum DVD image.
