Mapics DB - can't get rid of dedicated mode

Hi,

I'm hoping to find someone who remembers Mapics DB. The system is in
dedicated mode, how can I get rid of it. Data area ZDDCT is empty.

Thanks

Anne

Re: [?? Probable Spam] Re: Integrate XA with Other Products

Since you have integrator, you can place any system I data file in
PowerLink & create relationships with other INFOR XA files.

You can call you affiliate for education if required.

It is not difficult to do. This is a Powerful tool, you will not be
able to live without.

Good Luck.

Integrate XA with Other Products

Hi,

I am currently using Infor XA and would like to integrate another product with it. I am in a production
environment and have information coming from the floor using another program. However, this program is
not connected to Infor. Is there a way I could point this information into someplace either on the server or
somewhere in Infor that will have the information "dumped" and updated to be used in Infor. Any help would
be appreciated, even if I'm crazy and this can't be done.

MRP/VPi in a Seasonal Business

When you have seasonality that outpaces your capacity what are some of the
best approaches to ensuring that MRP/VPi will recommend an appropriate start
date for production based on the forecasted demand? We want to build up to a
peak of the season and then let inventory diminish after the peak.

MRP/VPi Question

We have a scenario with two warehouses:

P - Production which is a planning warehouse is where we typically generate
MOs and POs for components.

S - Shipping which is a where we place our customer orders (selling
warehouse), is not configured as a planning warehouse, and is where we place
our POs for purchased end items. S is configured with P as the primary
planning warehouse.

If we configure S as a planning warehouse to allow us to use MRP/VPi to
trigger for purchased items that are not configured in P will we have any
issues with continuing to plan for the produced items in P? We would rather
not create balance records in P for items that will never be used in our
production process but of course want to ensure that we aggregate demand for
manufactured items between our selling and production warehouse.

Hopefully the scenario is clear and I'm sure some of the experts here can
provide feedback on things too look for in testing,

Marc

Save while active vs. Mapics Backup

We are considering starting to use the save while active function on a daily
basis rather than running the Mapics Backup procedure daily to avoid the
need to get a dedicated system. We will run the Mapics procedure at a
regular frequency (weekly or monthly TBD) but not daily.

Are there any issues or considerations that we would be aware of before
making this procedure change? I suspect there are others on the list who
have made similar changes to minimize the down time of putting the
environment into a dedicated mode.

Best place to store notes and attachments by item number?

XA doesn't lend itself to lengthy notes on service part item numbers and I've asked I.T.to look into
solutions and also volunteered to see what service departments in other companies use.

Often, hours of investigation are done on a service part and the resolution ends up in someone's email file
on a PC, or in a word document filed who knows where. Sometime later, the same issue is investigated again
(the wheel re-invented) because the resolution wasn't stored in a central database and the investigator
didn't know there already was a solution in place. Because we have 50,000 service part numbers (roughly
just half of them active), I believe we need some type of solution for service parts notes.

Based upon my experience working a help desk, I believe a ticket tracking system (e.g. Track-It) would lend
itself to storing notes and resolutions by part number. Since we already use

* RightNow CRM
* Track-It
* Dell Kace K1000
* XA for ERP version 9.0 (green screen, but we're implementing Thru-put...)
* ARI PartSmart

software, I'd like to know if any of you have used one of these for service parts notes, or if you have a
recommendation of some other approach. There are also a lot of free tracking system apps out there that may
be players.

At the moment, I'm looking for something for internal use, not something to be shared with our customers. It
should have the ability to add a record by item number and be able to accept an attachment for the item number
record. The simpler the better; as a grand, full scale solution encompassing not only spare parts (item
class xx) but production parts that can be used by all XA users (I would think our buyers have similar need)
is not what I'm looking for because that would take years.

Thanks in advance.
