EPDM installations and APS bridge (ThruPut interface)

Hello Group,
We will be installing and first testing EPDM soon and we are users of ThruPut.
Infor support indicates all is perfect with the APS bridge (ThruPut interface) with EPDM and nothing can go wrong.
:-)
We are long time PCC, PDM and PDM+ users and all is well in our little world at the moment.
Any feedback good or not so good would help ease our minds.
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year.

Total labor hours per assembly

We need the labor hours that are associated with the top level and lower levels dollars that are broken out in
ITMRVB (ITEMASB). Has anyone developed a program to do this?

Re: Using IDF and the Item Revison A Dimension Fields to calculate Warehouse Square footage availability

Ray--- Back in food industry days we used TiHi (how many cases on a
pallet) and cube for warehousing and inbound POs.

Re: Using IDF and the Item Revison A Dimension Fields to calculate Warehouse Square footage availability

One thing we have done extensively with the IDF is to create SQL view and add them in through the IDF as
non-maintainable secondary business objects. In you case you could easily create a view to get product volume:

Create view yourlib.itemvol as
select itmno, itrv, stid, hite*long*wide as volume from afmlib.itmrva

Make sure to give proper authority to AMAPICS user, then bring into the IDF. Your logic in the SQL view will
probably be more complicated then that, but now whenever your users have access to Item information they
can see the volume it takes up as well.

Using IDF and the Item Revison A Dimension Fields to calculate Warehouse Square footage availability

We would like to use the ITMRVA fields listed below to calculate square
footage available in Warehouse '1'.

* = in use today.

  SHAP Shape Code
* HITE Height
* LONG Length
  IDIA Inside diameter
  ODIA Outside diameter
DUOM unit of measure for dimensions
* WIDE Width
  IDMA Make ID
  IDMO Model ID
  OEMP OEM Product Number

Our question is how do other companies determine in real-time what footage
is available in any given warehouse today within IDF? Our direction is to
develop via Enterprise Integrator, user exit data files and ITMRVA
dimension fields to display to the COM/IM and EPDM users available
warehouse space for new product or customer demand for availablility of
warehouse space. We don't want an add on software package our whole
company direction is to develop in house via IDF, System Link, user exits
to Infor standards. We realize this may be available in other Infor
products today and/or third party add ons but the basics are in plan
vanilla XA and that is where we want to stay.

Any dicussion on how you are able to determine warehouse square footage is
welcomed.

Using revision levels instead of new component numbers

We are looking for a solution to avoid the ever growing practice of
assigning new component numbers every time the component changes. (one
school of thought here on interpreting the form, fit, function rule)

Has anyone had success in using the revision level feature in XA? We have
done some testing on this and it seems to work well- we created revisions
with different costs and effective dates and tried them out in bills of
material. Some are hesitant about the fact that we cannot track inventory
by revision level.

We are at release 7.06

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Graph in IDF of KPI

We have a request from the President to place an icon on an IDF screen
(CSM) with one click display a graph showing Sales Period to date, Sales
Year to date, Period Cost to date, Cost Year to date fields totaled by item
accounting class. The data we can get from Item Balance file. The graph
in IDF we have never done before.
Anyone presenting any graphs in IDF Release 9 give us some pointers.

Thank you,

Automated Scanning......

I wanted to ask and see if anyone in the Mapics community has experience
setting automated scan tunnel's? If so do you have vendor contacts that I can
talk to?

We are needing to get an automated scan process in place for all of our
finished products that exit our Assembly/Pack area. We are currently manually
scanning them with RF Guns, but I need to eliminate the manual process.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Thanks!

To all my friends on the ML,

Thanks for a great many years of help & insight with MAPICS & AS400.

However I am now working strictly on SyteLine (MS SQL & WinTel).

Of course I had to say thanks before dropping off the list. It's been very
helpful to be the beneficiary of so much great info unselfishly shared.

And one last thing, our recent upgrade from R6 to R9, plust V5R1 to V7R1 on
a PS7 box went very well indeed. I'm gonna miss old faithful!

I'm on Linked-In for anyone interested.

Regards...james

Re: MAPICS-L Digest, Vol 10, Issue 125

I suppose we need to put this to bed. There is typically a clause in
MAPICS and Infor license agreements that require additional license
payments when a licensee grants access to any person who is not an
employee of that company, of Infor or a current affiliate of Infor. This
clause has been in a majority of contracts for many years. It is not a
financial penalty as such, but it is a license fee over and above the fee
already paid.

Quite frankly, I don't know the origin of this clause, nor do I know the
business justification. I have yet to find anyone who remembers when or
why it was put in. However, if it is in your agreement, it is a term of
your license. You could have an issue if you grant third party access and
Infor performs an audit.

I don't believe this has happened very often, and we don't consider it a
major licensing violation. However, you should be aware of the provisions
of your license pertaining to third party access. If you have this clause,
you are bound by its terms.
