OT: No messages from rockbox-cvs mailing list

Hello,

Could anyone tell me why I am no longer receiving any messages from then
rockbox-cvs mailing list? I thought it could be an issue related to recent
switch to GID, the mailing list description already states GID as the
information source, though. I even tried to unsubscribe and resubscribe but
with no result. I am very curious about any build released and its changes
it brings and would like to receive this information further. Thank you for
any ideas or solution, and sorry for a message being off-topic.

Clip Zip question

Good morning everyone:
After several weeks of reading the manual and trying to deal with things myself I have decided to swallow my pride and ask for help, hat in hand. I hope someone out there can help me out.
For xmas I received a Sansa clip zip MP3 player. And yes, I know it is considered an unstable platform for RockBox. Having said that, I'd thought "unstable" meant that at least a few functions on the clip zip would work.
I can't get a peep out of it though. Does this track everyone else's experience?
When I say that I can't get "a peep" out of it, I'm referring to RockBox. The MP3 player itself works all right, plays music, books in MP3 format etc, and the FM radio is a surprisingly good one with amazingly good reception for our area up here in Maine.
I've removed RockBox and reloaded it twice thinking that I've simply done something wrong that is simple that causes the silence during the configuration process. Apparently I'm repeating the error, if that is where I have gone wrong.
Does anyone have a suggestion or idea on this?

problems with clip+

Hello,

I'm running rockbox 3.10 on my Sandisk Clip+. My previous experience
with rockbox was on my Sandisk e280 series and to be honest I'm really
prefering that one. Audio quality is better on the clip+ but at least
for me it's not been a fun error free transition and I'd appreciate
any help.

Problem1, I use the voice feature so I can get audio feedback. On my
e280 messages such as recent bookmarks, rockbox info, anything in the
menus, were announced with the computer's default tts voice. On my
clip+ the installation was done on a machine whose default tts voice
was Microsoft sam, which frankly is awful and messages like the above
are given with that tts, thus far I've not been able to get rid of it
and I might have bricked the clip+ now trying. I have removed and
reinstalled the rockbox firmware to no avail, that didn't do it.
Thinking it might be the boot loader, I loaded up the original boot
loader then reloaded rockbox, which leads me in to problem2, now
whenever I plug the clip+ in my computer gives me the message "USB
device not recognized, a usb device attached to the computer has
malfunctioned". I can get in to rockbox, but replacing the boot loader
still didn't solve the original voice problem and now has added the
new device not recognized by the computer issue so I now have no way
to get content copied on to or off of the clip.

Problem2 is with the clip+ itself, might be something I have to live
with, it's battery performance is not good, I have to charge it after
ten to twelve hours of use, I was wondering if there was methods for
conserving battery power.

I'd like to get the clip+ recognized by the computer again, to solve
the voice issue, and if doable correct the battery drain I'm seeing.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.
Dave.

Réf.: Can not play files mp3 with my Sansa Clip Plus.

1- mp3 files & folders can be just anywhere, just avoid ./rockbox/ (& sub)

2- ./rockbox/ (& sub) must be on clip+ internal memory, not on external sd (as with some players). That is all
you need. If you are still stuck, some files may have been corrupted in ./rockbox/ & sub. I suggest you to :
- backup your .cfg, .wps,.. files if you have any
- delete the whole ./rockbox/ & sub
- download the latest release and re-copy/paste ./rockbox/ (& sub)
This works for me, can't see why it wouldn't for you

Help with iPod classic 6 gen

Hello all:

Well, I've tried everything I could think of. I'm going to have to ask for help.

I've been using an iPod classic 6g for about 6 months now. I have no problems. The unusable port has been
usable for me. The
only thing I can think is the low battery life that might be a small problem; but, that was known before I
originally installed
rockbox. Thank you all for the port.

A few days ago, I decided to upgrade my version of rockbox to see if anything has changed. I got git running and
did the get
clone. All that worked as expected. I did the build and built the voice file as I've done many times in the
past. (no problems).

I then installed rockbox and the voice file. When I rebooted the player, I was informed I needed to up the
mcore firmware. I
downloaded the .ubi file and followed the instructions. I Got help with the on-player stuff. All that went
fine as well.

When I booted the player on the new firmware, I found my disk was reformatted. I ran fdisk, make a new disk
partition and then
formatted the drive with a fat32 filesystem. I then reinstalled rockbox and the voice file.

When I rebooted this time, the rockbox exec couldn't be found. I then read some more on the WIKI and google. I
found I should
have used mformat instead of mkfs.vfat. So, I used mformat with -S5 because the sector size is 4096. I
mounted the new device
/dev/sdb1 and installed rockbox and the voice file once again.

Now, when I reboot, rockbox says there is no partition. plug in the usb cable and fix. When I do, here is what I
see with a dmesg
command:

iint_free: readcount: 1
iint_free: opencount: 1
FAT: bogus number of reserved sectors
VFS: Can't find a valid FAT filesystem on dev sdb1.
FAT: logical sector size too small for device (logical sector size = 512)

I would appreciate any help you all can provide.
Is there a version of rockbox installed as part of mcore?

Looking for a remote for an iAudio X5

Hey all!

I was just recently given an iAudio X5 by a kindly fellow on the
mailing list. It works
well for the most part, except that the joystick control is a bit
non-responsive when moving
left. I wanted to perhaps handle that by getting a remote for the X5
instead, which will make it
easier to control it from my pocket.

If anyone may have a spare remote or one that they're not using, let
me know. Also as an aside,
if anyone has a dock, I'll take one, too. :)

Cheers!
