Looking for >2GB SansaV2

Hello,

Due to (not so much wanted) a high amount of free time here, I'd like
to get back on track with SansaV2 development.

I have some problems however : sporadic access to internet, and worse:
I fried my 3rd and last Clip while doing some electronic work on a CD
player (not even rockbox hacking!).

My finances are a bit restricted now so I'm looking for funding: any
SansaV2 would do (Clip is the cheapest and the one i'm used to) and if
it's 4GB at least I can use it to continue the researchs on SD access
(limited to 1GB on 4GB and more models).

Last time I was on IRC I think LambdaCalculus told me he had ordered a
bunch of Clips.

If you have some spare Clips mail me to discuss if you can ship me one
of them (promise, I shall put no more than 5V in it !)

See you

I've got both a clip (2GB) and a fuzev1 (8GB).  The fuze is smashed almost to pieces (its built from several broken fuzes), but works fine internally.  You're welcome to it if no one offers you a Clip.

I'm also wondering if this is related to the iPod being formatted
FAT32. My iPod never gave me this kind of trouble until I had
reformatted on Windows iTunes to load Rockbox...

Two things pop to mind:
1 - The low battery symbol pops up w/o a disk spinup.
2 - This happened to me when using the original firmware.

I think the assumption that this is not uncommon behavior even with the
original firmware is well founded, as there:
A - are reports of this happening to people who have never used Rockbox.
B - is sound logic to the statement "bootloader problems are more likely
to be seen the more often you use the bootloader" Active Rockbox users
engage the bootloader possibly multiple times per day. Active Apple OS
users rarely _if ever_ engage the bootloader.

The only question, in my mind, is "does Rockbox increase the likelihood
this bug is triggered?"
This would be a time-consuming question to answer.

Hey Rafaël,

Actually, what I had said was that if Woot sells Clips again, that I
would buy three (the max they allow you to get at once), and I would
ship you a couple of them so you can get back to work.

I had been trying to look through some local stores to see if there are
any cheap Clips for sale, but so far, I haven't seen any cheap enough.

I'll keep searching, though.

FS#9873 - Utilise buttons for playlisting

I was hoping to get some input on this patch. It adds two, imo very
useful, key combos.

At the moment it only applies to the e200. I was hoping that any target
that has free buttons can make use of it, but I didn't receive
suggestions about this so far.

And generally, is this even wanted? I'd really want this. It makes
adding tracks and viewing & manipulating the playlist easier and quicker.

When it happened to me, I didn't catch any low battery symbol. I'm not
saying it didn't happen, I just didn't see it on my screen when it
finally did power up. Of course, I did have it plugged in to a charger
at those times. Next time I won't have it on a charger, to see...

> 2 - This happened to me when using the original firmware.

The only times I remember it happening is when I had Rockbox on the
iPod, in addition to the Apple firmware that gets loaded when I did the
Restore in iTunes v8 on Windows Vista Enterprise.
Rockbox was then dropped on using a Windows XP Pro Sp2 machine. Rockbox
Stable v3.1 & current r20102-090225.

	Agreed.

In my case, I would say yes, because of point B above. Before Rockbox,
I rarely kicked it over.

But another possibility, (I'm not a programmer but...) I presume the
firmware files are different for FAT32 and HFS, so I'm curious which way
the iPods are formatted when users experience this issue...
	Again, time consuming question...

Semantics.
Point B is not increasing the /odds/ that the bug is triggered - it is
increasing the /opportunities/ for the bug to be triggered.

Fuze is interesting since it's 8GB, do you have an idea of the price
for shipping to France ?

Again arguing semantics, from an end user perspective, point B increases
the odds that any given "shutdown" will trigger this issue.

And for what it's worth, it's not just the 5.5g. My 2nd gen Mini does
the same thing from time to time, which leads me to believe that at a
bare minimum it's a PP502x iPod issue.
