The ClamAV project is launching a new service called "Third Party web
interface". It will allow selected individuals/organizations to publish
ClamAV Virus Databases (CVD) through the ClamAV mirror network.

If you choose to publish your signatures through our Third Party
web interface you will benefit from the following:

- before publishing the signatures, we will test them for
  false positives against our false positive file collection.
- before publishing the signatures, we'll verify that the latest two
  major versions of ClamAV can load them correctly.
- the signatures will be digitally signed and packaged into a single
  .cvd compressed file.
- there will be no ".UNOFFICIAL" suffix in the detection names.
- a custom prefix will be added to the detection names, identifying the
  organization which published the signature.
- updates will be distributed both as full CVD files and cdiff

Possible problem with older versions of ClamAV (0.96-0.96.3)

Dear users,

ClamAV versions older than 0.96.4 are affected by a bug in the logical
signature parser, which can make them load and mishandle signatures
designed for newer engines. As a result, these versions may generate
incorrect detections, leading to false positive alerts.

If you're running one of these releases, we strongly advise to upgrade it.

Dear ClamAV users,

the release candidate for ClamAV 0.97 is available for download.

ClamAV 0.97 brings many improvements, including complete Windows support
(all major components compile out-of-box under Visual Studio), support
for signatures based on SHA1 and SHA256, better error detection, as well as

We encourage as many people as possible to test this release. 
If you don't have access to a test machine you can still help 
by downloading it and checking for us that it compiles and links 
on your platform and by running "make check".

We also encourage all 3rd party developers of products and

Just wanted to give you all a quick update.  The ClamAV blog, after a two year hiatus, is now back.


We'll keep this updated with all the latest ClamAV information and news surrounding the project.  All of the ClamAV personnel are authors on the blog, so we can expect some great content coming towards the blog.

ClamAV Releases

Dear Users,

ClamAV 0.96.2 was released on August 12, 2010.  If you missed it check
it out here: http://www.clamav.net/download/sources.  Highlights include:

1) Extended PDF parsing and extraction
2) Memory usage improvements
3) Speed improvements on DB loading
4) Improved handling of Safebrowsing DB
5) Bytecode clean ups and improvements

Numerous platform specific bugs, functionality bugs, and minor
enhancements were also added.  Please see the ClamAV bug tracker for
complete details (http://bugs.clamav.net).  Special thanks to all the
users that added bugs and feature requests, we appreciate your feedback
and support.

Additionally on August 16, 2010 ClamAV for Windows 2.0 was officially
launched.  This version contains a revamped GUI, numerous new detection
features, a new prevention engine, and a ton of other features.  If you
are one of the 150,000 current ClamAV for Windows 1.0 users check out
(http://www.clamav.net/about/win32) to upgrade to 2.0 and check out all
its new features.

Finally, the date for complete integration of LibClamAV with ClamAV for
Windows has been set.  The 3.0 version of ClamAV will, if all goes well,
and the wind is blowing in the right direction, be November 2010.
