Spam Training

I believe I have correctly configured efw and my mailserver to receive and
process emails sent to spam@... and
ham@... but how do I know if
it's actually being processed? I don't receive any sort of acknowledgement
(success or fail) when I send a spam to the addresses. Is there a log for,
I assume, salearn?

Also, is there a log for the spamfilter training service? I think I have
set it up correctly - the connection test passes but it doesn't seem to
delete the spam from the specified folder after training.

Thanks

Jerry

Re: Media Center guide data

If I disable proxy I can download guide data but this kind of defeats the
purpose of having a firewall. Surely I'm not the only one that's having this
problem. How are others handling it??

Re: Problem with 2.1.2 install

Hi,

I had the same problem, made the backup in 2.1 and applied it in 2.1.2...
and never could access the EFW from the computer on the green network again.
So I decided to install 2.1.2 from scratch and typed in all the
configuration....everything went fine up to the point were I configured the
ALIAS for the green network. After this alias was configured, no more access
to the firewall was possible... if I reboot the firewall from the console,
it comes back up in the same state.
So I guess you try again without the ALIAS for the green network, because
like this it works for me. Alias for blue and orange can be defined without
any problems.
I never installed 2.1.1, or did the in-place upgrade procedure, because our
EFW is in production and I can't do any more testing...at the moment I have
to live without green ALIAS...

Hope this helps!

Re: Problem with 2.1.2 install

What exactly do you mean by ALIAS? When I go through the initial install
(the bootable Linux portion) it only asks me for an IP and Mask... when I go
through the web interface part, the only thing it asks me for when
configuring the GREEN interface is an IP, Mask, Hostname, and Domain... If I
try to erase the Host or Domain, it makes me put them in... obviously, the
IP and Mask have to be put in... I tried changing to a different IP here,
but it makes no difference... it just stops responding.... Where is this
ALIAS thing? Got a screenshot?

egf-2.12 VMWare-image troubles ...

Hi all,

I've downloaded the Endian 2.12 community release VMWare-image and try
to use it.
But since there's no documentation about the image at all, I'm stuck ...
I found in a posting here on the list the pasword for the root-account
and another one (admin) probably for the web-interface.

Sadly I can't reach the web-interface, since the IP-address assigned to
br0 (GREEN-interface) is 192.168.0.15, which I can't reach since I'm in
a class B-network 172.16.0.0.

How can I assign the GREEN interface another IP-address from _my_
network on the _command-line_, so I can reach the web-interface and try
to configure the rest?

I tried "ifconfig -a br0 172.16.100.10 netmask 255.255.0.0" but thus
ifconfig shows me now a reachabele IP-Adress from my network, I can't
access he website.
Probably the default-router setting is wrong ... but I can't find
/etc/sysconfig/ifcfg-br0 or anything like it.

Another annoying thing for me is the US-keyboard layout. Since I live in
Germany, I'd like to change the keyboard-layout. How can I do this?

My last question for now: does anybody of you know, on which Linux
distribution is the VMware-image based? (maybe documentation from there
can help me also)

TIA, cheers from Stuttgart/Germany
Christoph.

Hi

Why don't you just download the 2.1.2 iso and install your own copy of EFW under VMware? It's easier than
trying to work out what someones done on their own image.

Regards

Bill

Simply change the ip address of your workstation to an address within
the vmware image's C-network 192.168.0.0, so you can reach the firewall.

Thereafter, if you access the web interface of the firewall on
http://192.168.0.15, you will find a wizard which besides others allows
you to change the ip address and passwords.

If for any purpose you can not change your workstation's ip address,
please report back and i will explain you exactly where to change the ip
address on the image.

Normally you don't need to access the console, since all can be
configured through web. But if you need, you can change the keyboard
layout starting "setup" on the console.

Endian Firewall is an own distribution basically based on sources from
here: ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/4/en/os/i386/SRPMS
But it handles configuration very different.

Here you will find the Endian Firewall administrators guide:

please, would you be so kindly and tell me how I can change the
IP-address of the VMWare-image.

Changing the IP-Address of _my workstation_ would cause quite a lot
hassle for me ...

Re: egf-2.12 VMWare-image troubles ...

Hi Christoph,

just edit "/var/efw/ethernet/settings" (with vi or nano) and change the
settings with the ones you need.
After that run "/etc/rc.d/rc.netwizard.reload" to apply the settings and
restart the services.

Enjoy EFW :)
