Hi,
I have recently upgraded from v.8 to v.9 now when attempting to open
any library I get the following error "failed to initialize database
support", before i try a reinstall does anyone know what the problem
could be? As far as I know v.8 libraries should be compatible with v.9?
Running winxp with office 2003.
Thanks

I'm using Windows XP and EndNote 9. I'm working on the administrator's account, but EndNote won't search for updates because it claims I don't have administrator privileges. Is there a work-around or patch for this problem? Benjamin Barrett Baking the World a Better Place www.hiroki.us

I have recently upgraded to EndNote v. 9 and am finding that records from these databases are not downloading correctly. Specifically Science Direct records are downloading without author, year, journal title or abstract. Web of Science only has author, nothing else. Has anyone else come across this problem thanks John John Terrell Portfolio Liaison Manager (joint) - Business School Liaison Librarian - Accounting & Law RMIT Business Library ph. 9925-5694 fax 9925-5685 john.terrell <at> rmit.edu.au http://www.rmit.edu.au/library

Removing field codes has removed Word formatting

In removing Endnote field codes from footnotes I'm finding that the codeless copy of the document loses some of the Word formatting that was there (Palatino went to Times, centred headings went left, etc). I'm using Endnote 7 for Mac and Office X for Mac. My document is highly styled and I want to strip Endnote field codes for publication. I have fifteen other chapters in the same boat, so re-applying Word styles piece by piece would take far too long. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Ross Langmead

Hi all, I have been using Endnote 5 with Windows XP, Word 2002. My institution is giving me the chance to move up to endnote 9.0.1. Does anyone have advice on whether this is a good idea? I'm not sold on constant upgrades (before I started using version 5 with windows, I happily used 2 plus with mac word 5.1 for years and years). Sara Sandstedt

Hi Is there any other option for importing references from Lexis-Nexis Academic than using http://steenbock.library.wisc.edu/instruct/endnote/EndNote_lexis.htm with the instructions from http://www.lib.unc.edu/instruct/endnote/lexis_nexis.pdf In addition, is it possible that the Lexis Nexis toolbar could be used? http://www.lexisnexis.com/toolbarhomecps/ I'm not asking that anyone research the question, just asking if anyone knows of other options. I have a customer who wants to do searches through time for a newspaper from Lexis-Nexis, and I'm trying to find a way to automate the process as much as possible. Have a nice day John Paul Fullerton j-fullerton <at> tamu.edu

I find that when you use the endnote button, things like this happen, but if I use the word macros to Unlink fields, it doesn't. So """ON A COPY!!!!"""", select all and CTRL+SHIFT F9 and see if that works for you? The only time you wouldn't want to do this if there are other kinds of fields you don't want to lose.
