Who is using EndNote 9?

Hi,

I'm considering making the leap to EndNote 9, but first, I'd would like to hear from anyone who is currently
using it... is there anyone who is using it on a regular basis, or am I too early?

Regards,

Tom Pasley

output style for course outline

I would like to use Endnote to prepare my course outlines. I would like to be able to use an output style which
would allow me to insert a citation with its complete bibliographic information (in the place of
insertion, not only in the bibliography). APA or Chicago format would be fine. Is there such an output
style already available? If not, any suggestions on how to make one? Thank you.

associated authors

Does anyone have any good recommendations for handling associated or
subsidiary authors in EndNote. I'm using a book whose authors are
listed thus on the title page:

William N. Morris in association with Paula P. Schnurr

How would you enter this in EndNote?

New ANSI NISO standard on bibliograhpic references

Some of you may be interested in the new ANSI NISO standard on Bibliographic

It is very detailed, and may be helpful in those cases where individual style

References deleting glitch (EndNote 8 for Mac)

If I select and delete a reference that's somewhere down in the the
Library Window using Cmd-D, the reference disappears from the library
and Library Window as soon as I respond to the confirmation dialog
box that opens.

But if I delete the *first* reference in the Library Window, it
doesn't disappear from the Library Window (although the drop-down
Preview Panel clears).  I can select and work on other references;
the deleted reference entry remains in the window until you try to
click, at which point it disappears.

Also, in the Library window, Page Up and Page Down keys on an
extended keyboard work; Home and End keys don't work.

Re: just as an aside, endnote as a newsgroup

Sweet! Actually goes back over 3300 messages: early May is only the first 300 headers.

Thanks!

It seems to work, archived at least back to early May?

A problem with the font

Dear all ,

When I import references, the font type was not like "Drosophila melanogaster", but "Drosophila
melanogaster". Since Drosophila melanogaster is a species name, it should be italic.

Then I tried to insert this reference into WORD, it still appeared "Drosophila melanogaster".

My endnote version is 9.0

Anyone else has this problem ?

Anyone can give the solution ?

I will be VERY appreciated for your kindly help !!!!!!

Changed field names -- where are they stored?

For a research project I have created an Endnote database for the four members of our team. In doing so, I
changed some of the field names in the Reference Types Table. The new field names show up correctly on my
computer (the one on which I changed the field names) but when I copied the Endnote library to my
colleagues' computers the default field names are displayed -- not the new ones I created.

I had assumed that the field names are stored somewhere in either the .enl file or in the \rdb directory, but
such doesn't seem to be the case. How can I make sure that the new field names show up on the other computers?
Does anybody know where Endnote stores this information?

Thanks in advance for any help.

RE: associated authors

What you enter in EN will depend on what you want in your bibliography,
which, in turn, will depend on your style. I'm not familiar with any styles
which would require "in association with"... most would just handle these as
two authors. (How would *I* put this in Endnote? I'd put the authors in as
"Morris, William N." and "Schnurr, Paula P." on separate lines of the author
field).

If you did need to put the "in association with" in your citation, you could
either put the associated author in a secondary (or tertiary) author field
(which may involve editing the reference types) and then add "|*in
association with Secondary Author|*" [where * is a link adjacent mark] to
the relevant citation and bibliography templates.
Otherwise, if you're already using the subsidiary author fields for this
reference type, or if there's only a few cases, you could consider cheating,
and simply entering "Morris, William N." and "in association with Paula P.
Schnurr," [nb the final comma] in the author field.
