RE: EndNote Listserv Shutdown Message...

Hello,

The forum looks nice, especially the email notification.

Only one remark: I'm not sure about the different thread (I selected
all).

Thanks

Patrice

Re: New Endnote groups

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to thank you for all your knowledgable help over the
years. I have lurked more than contributing, not being an expert, but
have appreciated the collegial atmosphere of the list, and found it
worthwhile to read and occasionally keep messages pertinent to my own
work.

I shall no doubt log into the forum when I have a specific question, but
will miss dipping into the ongoing conversations.

I look forward to reading many of you in the forum format.

RE: switching form e-mail list to web forum

Hello Francesco,

You should be able to set up the web Forums to do exactly what you're describing, to send a single email each
day, easily browsable after just one quick on-line connection. To do so, follow these instructions:

Subscribing to a Board to receive emails of new posts on the forum:
1)	Click on the board you want to subscribe to, "EndNote General"
for example
2)	Go to "Board Options > Add This Board to My Subscriptions"
3)	Go to "My Profile > Subscriptions & Bookmarks"
4)	Select the E-Mail Delivery option you want
Immediate - each post will be sent as a separate email Daily Digest - receive one email per day that contains
all posts Weekly Digest - receive one email per week that contains all posts
5)	If you want to view the contents of the post change "Content
Format" to "Subject and Body"
Note that you can not reply to the email, you would need to click on the link in the email to the post and reply on
the forum.

For your request, you'd want to choose "Daily Digest". This way, you wouldn't need to muck about with RSS
feeds, the forums themselves provide direct email feeds instead.

New Endnote groups

Between the Thomson Endnote Forum, Google Groups and now a Facebook
group, I'm sure that many list subscribers are dazed and confused (as I
am). I'm not sufficiently acquainted with the different systems to
evaluate their advantages and disadvantages. I would prefer if there
were a single place that continued the Endnote list, and I will either
adapt to it or not.

Mike Smith

Ps - my Word-Endnote problem was caused by the fact that the Word SP3
upgrade automatically disabled the Add-in, and the Word "Templates and
Add-Ins" box would not fix it. But the "Add=ins" menu from the "About
Word" menu did fix it.

EndNote Listserv Shutdown Message...

Hello EndNote List Users:

The EndNote mailing list is coming to an end. We'd like to thank
everyone for their participation and hard work on this list. Now that
the Forums are up and running and have been sufficiently tested, they
will be replacing our current mailing lists. You can find the EndNote
Forum here...
http://forums.thomsonscientific.com/ts/?category.id=endnote
You can still find the archives for the EndNote Mailing List here...
http://lists.adeptscience.co.uk/endnote/

The Forums offer these convenient features...
*	Categorized & fully searchable posts to help you find what you
need more quickly
*	Easily accessible forum archives
*	Ability to post clickable links
*	Image posting for screen shots & other troubleshooting purposes
*	Private messaging for "off-line" discussion
*	Ability to post content files (XML, Filters, and Styles)
... As well as being closely monitored by support staff to help ensure
timely and accurate responses.
We will also keep the Forums free from spam and abuse.

Here are some tips for getting e-mail delivery from the forums...

Subscribing to a Board to receive emails of new posts on the forum:
1)	Click on the board you want to subscribe to, "EndNote General"

Re: Word-Endnote problem - again

Dear Mike,

second thought:

It occurred to me that if your computer is connected into network the
problem can also be that there is a conflict between your network
profile and computer registry.

Then you need to clean up your registry by Regedit programme:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER - Software - ISI ResearchSoft. There you need to
delete EndNote folder and reboot your computer. When your computer start
the registry will be rebuilded.

with best regards Jukka

Facebook EndNote group

There is now a Facebook group for EndNote users if anyone is interested
in that as an option. If you already have a Facebook account, just
search the Groups application for 'EndNote Users'. It is an open group
so anyone can join.

I too will miss this list. Farewell!

Google group

I have created a Google group for discussing EndNote.

To subscribe, send an e-mail to endnote-subscribe <at> googlegroups.com.

RE: style request

To accomplish any of this, you really want to familiarize yourself with
the style editor in Endnote which is spelled out in the PDF manual in
the Endnote folders and the imbedded help function in Endnote.

Current Opinion says "Vancouver style" but like other Current Opinion
Journals (there are many but they are mostly published by a different
publisher) the identification of "important" references needs to be done
manually after formatting (and I recommend unlinking on a copy - the
fields). In relation to this, see notes in one of the Elsevier's
Current Opinion Styles in Endnote.

Vancouver will need to be altered, since they want them in square
brackets (and the Endnote supplied Vancouver they are curved). change
the number of authors show 3 et al, if there are more than 4 authors
(setting to "5 authors or less") and I would include the annotation in a
selected field and include that in the bibliography templates careful to
include the appropriate "forced separation" and link adjacent text"
characters so you don't get punctuation or space when the field is
empty. You might be able to figure out a way to put the asterisk info
into another field and put that into the citation and bibliography
fields, to try and automate that process too?

The Expert Opinion ones may be different from topic to topic, I didn't
look at them all, but the one on Therapeutic Targets and the one for
Pharmacology both say:

"References can be formatted using EndNote or Reference Manager
according to the style of Current Medical Research and Opinion." Other
modifications including annotations could be handled as in the above.

switching form e-mail list to web forum

Good morning all:
the 7th of May is approaching and I've gathered that this e-mail list
will not be working any longer due to Thompson Reuters' decision.
I have followed -and sometimes contributed to- this e-mail list for more
than 10 years now. RSS or web forum are not a valid alternative for me,
also accustomed to receive the messages as one digest/bundle per day.
That way I got only one message per day, easily browsable after just one
quick on-line connection; I had the possibility to discard and keep only
the relevant messages. I considered that fast, clean, simple, fairly
'ecological'.
I admit I don't see how I could replicate these functionalities within
the web forum.
I think I'll stop following the web forum and the discussion concerning
EndNote.
Thanks to all who have contibuted

Help

Is there anyone in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis or St. Paul, MN) who
works with EndNotes who would be willing to tutor me 1:1 for a total of
1 - 2 hours? I will pay for this tutoring; just let me know what you
want to charge. I would greatly appreciate it if there was someone who
could do this, even this week (or next week if neededP.
