Import of the web applications benchmark. This is not complete, but it works to deploy the machines (assuming you have xen working and xen-tools) and benchmark a phpBB3 web server. Better documentation about how to proceed will come.

HEAD tests

Hi!

I was recently working on fixing some things in HEAD in 
ext/standard/strings.c and when I tried to run tests to check if my 
fixes are OK I discovered that huge amount of strings tests now fail - 
out of ~800 tests we have 420 fails! Most of them seem to be some 
trivial matters like string/unicode mismatch or different error message 
syntax but this thing makes the tests totally useless, as it is 
impossible to verify fixes against them.
Is someone going to fix it?

Did you actually commit phpBB to SVN?
Besides the licensing issues, its not really something we want to have in svn..

I missed the licensing issue, sadly. I will remove it, it's just a small
2-line patch that differs from the original, but I can't figure out a good
solution for this, since the web app benchmark would become pretty useless
without applications to benchmark :/ If anyone have any suggestion how this
could be sorted out I would be very thankful to know.. Should they be
downloaded separately from the user-side instead perhaps?

What exactly are the licensing issues? I understand that there is a
PHP policy to not include GPL code in the repository. I would guess
that this is because we can't allow GPL code to mingle with PHP- or
Zend-licenced code. In the php-benchmarks section, this isn't
important.

Anyhow, we already have GPL code in the php-benchmarks section of the
repository, and the last discussion didn't go anywhere. Obviously, we
want benchmarks in the repository, some of them will be GPL, and so we
need to address this.

If there is someone who knows the rules for what goes in the
repository (or can point to them), and could tell us why the rules are
that way, we can make a decision as to whether this merits an
exception?

I have actually been fixing tests, so this surprised me.  I checked with
Stas on irc and it turned out to be a case of user error on his part :)
We don't have 420 failed string tests in HEAD.  We still have 22 though,
plus a number of borked tests due to charset issues, so please pitch in
and work on these.

Yes, you are right, it was my broken setup, sorry :( With setup fixed, 
amount of broken tests back to normal.
