[PHP-DEV] PHP 5.2.0RC3 Released

The third release candidate of PHP 5.2.0 is finally out and the
source packages can be found here:

http://downloads.php.net/ilia/php-5.2.0RC3.tar.bz2
(79a9e8ecd8edcfcc033bbd49967ad47a)
http://downloads.php.net/ilia/php-5.2.0RC3.tar.gz
(735c8f0385483afc732c09c5bb4257a3)

Win32 binaries will follow shortly.

Compared to previously RCs the list of changes is very minimal,
hopefully a sign indicating that we are getting closer to the final
and that things are getting more stable. The two important fixes in
this release address a memory corruption in the new memory manager
and the shutdown order of the session extension. Please try this
release and let us know if you encounter any problems.

RE: [PHP-DEV] PHP 5.2.0RC3 Released

Hi Ilia,

Can you post it also on the front page of php.net? As we are getting closer
to release 5.2.0 we should make sure that we get as many beta testers as
possible. My experience is that internals <at> isn't enough...

Thanks.

Yes, it will even be as fast as using zlib.output_compression.

[PHP-DEV] Win32 snapshot build failing.

Hi.
Line 2493+ of http://snaps.php.net/win32/snapshot-5.2.log

	cd Release_TS\php-5.2.0RC4
NMAKE : fatal error U1077: 'cd' : return code '0x1'
Stop.

Odd thing is that the win32/build/makedist.php copies the files to the
folder correctly.

There are a few blank filenames attempting to be copied in
makedist.php, but nothing critical. (Patch to tidy this :

[PHP-DEV] Please test ext/filter

Hello,

As you may have noticed, the filter extension has been greatly
improved and a new release has been done yesterday. The additions and
changes discussed (1) in the past weeks have been integrated. I hope
the API is getting more useable and stable.

The extension is enabled by default and its code will be used in each
single query (it registers sapi filter). It's the first reason why it
is very important to test it now and report all issues before 5.2.0.
One problem affecting the magic quotes has been already solved by
Ilia.

Please post your feedback here, in the pecl-dev list or in the bugs trackers.

If you cannot test it within 5.2.0RC3 but has a 5.1.x test platform,
please install it using the PECL command:

$ pecl install filter-0.10.0

or with the classic phpize.

You can report bugs in either the php bugs (filter top category)
tracker or in pecl:

http://pecl.php.net/package/filter

Thanks.

Re: [PHP-DEV] PHP 5.2.0RC3 Released

Hi Andi,

Rock vs hard place - RC's were announced on php.net and distributed via the
download page for some several months in the past. It led to a lot of user
confusion, particularly when there were any binary compat breakages, and the
RMs went back to simply announcing RCs on the internals list due to that.

Isn't there any half-way house on this?

Primary tester mailinglist:
primary-qa-tester <at> lists.php.net

Wez is still in the process of configuring things, but once its up there
will be an effective way of notifying the world at large about RC's.

[PHP-DEV] Update windows extensions section in php.ini

Hi,
I notice that the windows extensions section in php.ini is out to date.
There are a few extensions that are now in PECL but more important is that
extensions like PDO are not listed there at all.
Is there any planned update on in?

Andi,

Let's wait for Edin to make win32 binaries and then we can do that.

OK, thanks for the answer. The documentation doesn't need any update then.
