Abschied und Neuanfang

Liebe Unterstützer von OpenOffice.org,

die vergangenen Tage und Wochen hier im Projekt waren durch zum Teil 
heftige Diskussionen gekennzeichnet, darüber, wie wir die Zusammenarbeit 
im Projekt empfinden und wie wir diese weiter gestalten wollen und 
können. Leider war diese Diskussion nicht immer so sachlich, problem- 
und zielorientiert, wie es wünschenswert gewesen wäre, sondern mitunter 
sehr emotional.

Auslöser der Diskussionen war die Ankündigung zur Gründung einer 
Foundation, die sich das Ziel gesetzt hat, die freie Office-Suite 
weiterzuentwickeln und unabhängig von einzelnen Sponsoren die Community 
zu vertreten. Diese Idee ist fast so alt wie das OpenOffice.org-Projekt 
selbst und wurde in den vergangenen Jahren immer wieder diskutiert.

Das Projekt OpenOffice.org ist in seinem 10jährigen Bestehen stark 
gewachsen. Dieses Wachstum wurde ohne Zweifel durch die Leistungen des 
Hauptsponsors Sun/Oracle stark gefördert, sowohl durch die angestellten 
Entwickler als auch durch Bereitstellung und Unterhaltung der 
technischen Plattform.

Gleichwohl haben auch zahlreiche ehrenamtliche Projektmitglieder und die 
Mitarbeit weiterer Firmen mit der Investition vieler Arbeitsstunden und 
finanziellem Aufwand dazu beigetragen, sowohl das Produkt 
OpenOffice.org, als auch das dahinter stehende Projekt 
weiterzuentwickeln. Als gelungene Beispiele wie gut diese gemeinsame 
Arbeit funktionieren kann, sind unter anderem die Arbeit in den 
Bereichen der Dokumentation, Qualitätssicherung und Übersetzung, 
gemeinsame Marketinganstrengungen sowie die Organisation von 
Community-Events und Messeauftritten zu nennen.

Allerdings zeigte sich auch immer deutlicher, dass aller Zusammenarbeit 
und dem gemeinsamen Finden von Lösungen manchmal Grenzen gesetzt sind. 
Diese sind dort, wo sich Ideen zur Weiterentwicklung der 
Arbeitsplattform, des Designs oder des Marketings nicht mit den 
Vorstellungen des Hauptsponsors decken oder aber einfach nicht 
angegangen oder umgesetzt werden können, weil derjenige keine 
Entscheidung trifft, der dazu (rechtlich) in der Lage wäre. Das führte 
und führt immer wieder zu unnötigen Missverständnissen und Diskussionen. 
Um diese Grenzen zu durchbrechen, muss sich das Projekt weiterentwickeln 
und benötigt eine unabhängige Instanz – eine Foundation.

Die offizielle Antwort Oracles auf die Ankündigung der Document 
Foundation war eindeutig - Oracle wird OpenOffice.org so wie bisher 
weiterführen. Daraus ergibt sich nun tatsächlich der in letzter Zeit 
postulierte Interessenkonflikt für diejenigen Community-Mitglieder in 
verantwortlichen Postionen des Projekts, denen es nicht ausreicht „wie 
bisher weiter zu arbeiten“. Auch wenn immer wieder betont wird, dass auf 
technischer Ebene zusammengearbeitet werden soll und Änderungen möglich 
sind - von Oracle gibt es bisher kein Einlenken bezüglich der Frage nach 
der Projektorganisation und -führung. Für jene, die eine solche Änderung 
erreichen wollen, dazu aber im Projekt keine realistische Möglichkeit 
sehen und sich deshalb in der TDF engagieren, ergibt sich damit leider 
eine „Entweder/Oder“-Frage.

Die Antwort für uns, die wir hier unterzeichnen ist klar: wir wollen 
eine Änderung, um der Community und der von ihr betreuten Software die 
Chance zur Entfaltung zu geben. Aus diesem Grund werden wir uns in 
Zukunft für die Document Foundation engagieren und in diesem Rahmen 
LibreOffice gemeinsam entwickeln und fördern. Natürlich hoffen wir, dass 
uns viele auf diesem Weg begleiten, den wir selbst bestimmen.

Uns ist aber bewusst, dass jeder Einzelne eine solche Entscheidung für 
sich selbst treffen muss und diese jedem freisteht. Wir haben uns 
entschieden und stellen unsere bisherigen Positionen hier im 
deutschsprachigen Projekt zur Verfügung.

Wir bedanken uns bei allen, die die bisherige Entwicklung von 
OpenOffice.org ermöglicht haben und mit denen uns ein langer gemeinsamer 
Weg verbindet.

OpenOffice.org HackFest 2010

Geschätzte OOo-Hacker,

die OOoCon ist nun zuende, und wir stellen mal wieder fest, wie wichtig 
und effektiv persönliche Treffen sind - leider haben wir davon im Jahr 
viel zu wenig. Um das Problem mal grundlegend zu fixen, kündigen wir 
hiermit das OOo HackFest in Hamburg an, ein Event speziell für und mit 
Entwicklern, bei dem wir gemeinschaftlich am Code arbeiten wollen.

Das OpenOffice.org HackFest findet am Wochenende vom 6./7. November 2010 
in Hamburg statt, das Programm wird in etwa folgendermaßen aussehen:

     * Freitag abend - Bierchen & Kennenlernen
     * Samstag morgen - Einführungsvorträge, Hands-on sessions
     * Samstag nachmittag/nacht - gemeinschaftliches Hacken & Bugfixen
     * Sonntag morgen - wrap-up, review, dokumentieren

Es wird ein limitiertes Budget für Reisekosten geben, für Übernachtungen 
steht ein großer (leider unbeheizter) Raum zur Verfügung, also an 
Isomatte und Schlafsack denken. Für etwas komfortablere und dennoch 
preiswerte Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten siehe die entsprechende Wikiseite

Hi everyone,

the results of the elections held earlier this month are now available.
Two of the three candidates have been confirmed to represent "you" in
the Community Council. Unfortunately, one member hasn't been confirmed
in his role. But first the detailed results ...

The observers, Sophie Gautier and Drew Jensen have all approved and
confirmed the results. My thanks to them and to Stefan Taxhet, who
managed the voting apparatus that allowed us to vote.

Please join me in welcoming Olivier and Eike! I have no doubt they are
all quite familiar to you, and I and everyone else on the Council, hope
that you will grow more familiar with them and the working of the
Council. The time in the Council gives us the chance to develop a good
relationship.

And this good relationship is also true with regard to Thorsten - we all
know him, respect him, and value his contributions. The constituency of
the "Product Development Representative" just expressed their opinion
that there might be another community member who better fits this role.
My personal thanks to Thorsten for being a candidate!

In the next Community Council meeting it will be decided how to proceed
with regard to the "Product Development Representative". Most likely,
the whole elections for this role will be re-done. Thus, other community
members might consider their nomination.

OOo 3.2.0 FR disponible pour Linux 64 bits et MacOS PPC

Bonsoir,

Les tests QA des versions francophones Linux 64 bits et MacOS PowerPC
ayant été terminés, ces versions sont désormais disponibles depuis la
page de téléchargement : http://fr.openoffice.org/about-downloads.html

Un grand merci à tous les testeurs qui ont fait vraiment du bon travail
pour contribuer à produire une version 3.2 de qualité. Bien sûr elle
n'est pas exempte de défauts et le plus grand nombre possible sera
corrigé avec la version "bugfix" 3.2.1 pour laquelle il n'y a pas encore
de date de publication prévue, mais si on suit le rythme habituel ce
devrait être début mai.

The latest biggest bugfixes since 0.6 are :

several crashes when launching Ooo4Kids in command line are fixed
Windows : directly launch any application is now supported (no more crash)
Fixed the crash, when clicking on the icon, while OOo4Kids is already launched
mismatch with color/security tabs in preferences issue is fixed
Mac OS X : the new Apple remote (metallic, 2009 model) works
