new Apache OpenOffice.org mail list to replace this list

Please read this note in its entirety. It contains important information related to this mailing list, its migration to the Apache Software Foundation, and the steps you must take to ensure continuous access to the list.

Background

As you may have heard, Oracle contributed the OpenOffice.org (OOo) code to Apache in June. All new projects at Apache start in the "Incubator", a special part of Apache where new projects ("Podlings") and their communities are given special attention by Apache "mentors" as they learn about Apache, ensure that the source code meets Apache's license requirements, and work toward their initial Apache release.

In parallel with the coding efforts needed before we can publish Apache OpenOffice.org 3.4.0, the Apache OpenOffice.org community, working with the Apache Infrastructure team, is migrating the many legacy OOo websites and other online services formerly hosted by Sun/Oracle onto Apache servers. This has been a huge effort and we are showing good progress in many areas.

You can read more about the current status of the migration effort on this wiki page:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/OpenOffice.org+Migration+Status

Additional relevant information is published in our project blog at:  http://blogs.apache.org/OOO/

Resubscribing

Among the services hosted by Oracle on the legacy OOo servers are over 300 mailing lists, including the  mailing list you are reading now.  In order to participate in Apache OpenOffice.org through a relevant mailing list, you will need to resubscribe to a new list address, per the following instructions:

  1. Send an email to ooo-dev-subscribe <at> incubator.apache.org. This should be done from an e-mail account that you want to use to receive messages from the new list.
  2. This will generate a confirmation email which will be sent to your email address. You will need to reply to the confirmation email in order to complete your subscription to the new list.
  3. To send posts to the new list, you will mail them to the following address: ooo-dev <at> incubator.apache.org
  4. And if you ever want to unsubscribe to the new list, you can do so by sending an email to: ooo-dev-unsubscribe <at> incubator.apache.org

We invite and encourage you to follow the above steps and to participate in Apache OpenOffice.org project. If you have any questions, feel free to post as responses to this note, or send a question to ooo-dev <at> incubator.apache.org (you must be subscribed to post a question).

Notes

  1. We recommend that you do not subscribe via a legacy openoffice.org email address. It is uncertain at this point whether these addresses will be supported in the future.
  2. Archives of the legacy mailing lists are available here: http://openoffice.markmail.org/
  3. Archives of the new mailing lists and other relevant information can be found at: Apache OpenOffice.org mail list information.
  4. If you prefer to access the list via Gmane, please post a request on the new list and we will try to accommodate you.

OSS Research Help Needed Please - drawing for tablet computer ($500.00 gift card) for participation.

Hello!

We are asking you for some help from the Open Source communities.

As researchers at the University of Tennessee we are interested in discovering more about learning and interactions of members of the open source forums.   This research is conducted through the University of Tennessee and is in no way associated with any forum organization.  To further our research we would like input from forum members.  The responses are very important to us so we can better understand what tools help forum members learn and have a productive experience in participation.

There are two ways you can help:

1.       Take a survey about the tools you use in the forum.

We are requesting approximately 15 minutes of your time to participate in our survey.

Survey link:  http://survey.utk.edu/mrIWeb/mrIWeb.dll?I.Project=FORUMLEARN

As a thank you, upon exiting the survey you will be given an opportunity to submit information to be entered in a drawing for a tablet computer ($500.00 Gift Card).

2.      Have a one on one interview talking about the forums, how you learn, and tools used.  As a thank you for your interview you will be sent a $25.00 gift card.  Email lholt <at> utk.edu for more information.

You may do either or both of the above.  Please be assured that your answers will be confidential.  No individual’s answers will ever be identified in any report. Should you have any questions about the project or our interest in using the results, we encourage you to contact Lila Holt, at lholt <at> utk.edu) or Vandana Singh at vandana <at> utk.edu.

Contact information you provide for the drawing is completely separate from your survey answers and there will be no way to identify participants in the actual survey responses. Nor will contact information be used for any other purpose. The odds of being selected will depend on the number of respondents to this survey.

How to display table contents?

Hello,

I am working on writing an ldap driver for openoffice. I followed the steps for skeleton driver and was able to establish a connection and everything.

I also changed some code inside getTables method of DatabaseMetaData.cxx file so that when the database is opened for editing it shows a default table exists in it.

However this table is empty, I want to show some data based on the user's connection string when s/he double clicks and opens the table. Could someone point me to where code for this is ? I want to put in code to read ldap directory there so that I can show data from ldap as part of a table.

I tried setting breakpoint to executeQuery in SStatement.cxx but it does not go there when you doubleclick open the table in a database.

any help is appreciated !

thanks,

Rohit

SDBC driver / Display data to user

Hello,

I worked on writing an SDBC driver for LDAP for a bit. I was able to make the skeleton SDBC driver work for me. After I go through couple of steps of establishing a connection with the correct connection string there is this new Window that shows up which is supposed to show list of available tables and queries etc.

Now I don't have any tables there as this is just a sample driver. What I want to do is extract some sample data from my LDAP directory and display it in a table to the user. But I can figure out how can I do that.

Could someone give me any pointer about how can you show the data read from the underlying database, to the user in a table?

thanks in advance.

staus of bugfixes toward OOo 3.4 and dev300: cws fs34b and fs34c, fs35a, hsqldb19

Hi Frank,

I know correctly that the latest integrated into m106 database connected
cws was dba34d.
The fs34b in finished status, and fs34 fixed two issue and still open,
the hsqldb19 approved by QA still wait for DEV300 integration.

In EIS i found that is nmerged to cws

dba34d:.http://eis.services.openoffice.org/EIS2/cws.ShowCWS?Id=10124&logon=true&OpenOnly=false&TasksInline=false&Section=All
<http://eis.services.openoffice.org/EIS2/cws.ShowCWS?Id=10124&logon=true&OpenOnly=false&TasksInline=false&Section=All>
But I fuond in OOO340m0/DEV300m106 that for example, bug 117454 old
report, and bug 117472 is still in.
That means fs34b not merged correctly.

This is correct?
Ragards,
Zoltan

How to refresh DataSourceBrowser in a FrameControl

I try to use the "com.sun.star.frame.FrameControl" in a dialog acting as a "subforms'.

So i have 2 Framecontrol's  loaded with a dataSource browser based on a SQL-statement

When selecting a row in the first FrameControl the data in the second must been refreshed (passing a new SQL-statement to the second Framecontrol).

I found no way to do that because the activeCommand off the Resultset is "readonly".

now i use  this workaround:
' delete the FrameControl we want to refresh
 odlg.getcontrol("Grid2").dispose
' make  a new FrameControl
   oFrameControl2 = createUnoService("com.sun.star.frame.FrameControl")
   aLoaderArguments2(0).Name = "DataSourceName"
    aLoaderArguments2(0).Value = "mysql_native_PMG_reports"
    aLoaderArguments2(1).Name = "CommandType"
    aLoaderArguments2(1).Value = 2 'com.sun.star.sdb.CommandType.TABLE
    aLoaderArguments2(2).Name = "Command"
    aLoaderArguments2(2).Value = "SELECT distinct *   FROM  pmgdbase.adv_reden_tbvips  WHERE pmgdbase.adv_reden_tbvips.REDENID = '" & sid &"'"
    aLoaderArguments2(3).Name = "ShowTreeView"
    aLoaderArguments2(3).Value = FALSE
    aLoaderArguments2(4).Name = "ShowTreeViewButton"
    aLoaderArguments2(4).Value = FALSE
    aLoaderArguments2(5).Name = "ShowMenu"
    aLoaderArguments2(5).Value = FALSE
' load the new FrameControl
  oFrameControl2.LoaderArguments = aLoaderArguments2
  oFrameControl2.ComponentUrl = ".component:DB/DataSourceBrowser"

Is there a better way to do that ?

Thanks

Fernand

libreoffice-sdbc-postgresql: cannot edit tables

Currently the SDBC driver 0.7.6b is broken with OO > 3.3.

- you can not add/modify records
- you can not set database options through <edit><database>..

This is true for OO 3.3, LO 3.3 i32/am64, windows and linux.

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=620100
http://openoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=113494
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35784
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/782292

This is pretty bad, since the jdbc driver is about 10x slower. Because
of that Base is currently almost unusable with Progresql databases.

I believe this issue should be a showstopper for the 3.4 release.

Shared Library registration with regcomp

Hello,

I am trying to register the library (.so) file for the example skeleton sdbc driver using "regcomp" tool into the services.rdb file. When I try to register the shared library in "connection/unxlngi6.pro/lib" directory it fails giving "CannotRegisterImplementationException" exception.

However during the build process this library is copied into 'solver//330/unxlngi6.pro" directory and when I try to register this file it succeeds !

Could anyone tell me what changes happen to the library files during build process when they are copied into the solver directory?

My problem is that the my sdbc driver library is supposed to implement com.sun.star.sdbc.Driver service but when I register it from solver it is implementing some strange services like
"com.sun.star.comp.svl.PathService" and "com.sun.star.uno.util.numbers.SvNumberFormatterServiceObject" hence I am wondering if something is changing the library during the build process.

thank you,
Rohit
