Multizilla and SeaMonkey 2

OK boys and girls, I've tested this so I know it works.

You need to "download" _MultiZilla v1.9.0.1a (for
SuiteRunner builds only)_ from here:
http://multizilla.mozdev.org/installation/installation.html.

Now, you use a zip program and unzip the files and
directories. There are 3 directories [chrome,
components, and defaults] and one file [install.rdf].
Open install.rdf and look for the line:

em:maxVersion="2.0apre1" />

once found, re-do that line to:

em:maxVersion="2.1" />

save the file and re-zip everything back in the same
order. There done. Now its ready to be installed. And
when its installed, you gain access to the settings and
that under the Addons Manager window.

If you want to take it a step further, and you want all
your old settings from SM 1, then after you install it,
close SM 2, open the file prefs.js from the SM 1
profile. Do a search for:

user_pref("multizilla

when you look there, there should be a ton of entries

I tried this already back in August with SM 2 beta1, but the problem was
that MZ didn't work properly, e.g. the Preferences were not accessible...
Does it really work after manually copying the preferences to prefs.js?

Hmmm... I had tried it during the betas (not by editing install.rdf,
just by disabling compatibility check) and I couldn't make it work. I
mean, I could install it, but I couldn't use it. But you said it worked,
so I gave it another try...

...turns out that the problem I had (couldn't open the Multizilla
Preferences) had an easy workaround: just go to the add-on manager,
select Multizilla and click on "options." This is the second extension
in which I noticed this -- apparently there was some other path to the
extension Preferences in the old code that no longer works. The
QuickPrefs button on the Multizilla toolbar seems to be broken, so I

UPDATE: I had to disable Multizilla. Turns out that, for some reason, it
*broke* tabbed browsing -- I could open a tab by right-clicking on a
link and selecting "open in new tab", but I couldn't do it by either
Ctrl-clicking or center-clicking.
Funny thing is, I kinda remember there being a setting for it (separate
from the original Seamonkey setting) in Multizilla. Couldn't find it,
though. So I tried copying the old settings from my old SM 1.1 profile
(which I had backed up on DVD). Didn't work either...

So I'm back with no Multizilla. But I still have hopes.

I had the same results when I tried an install on a Vista laptop.

You might wish to make sure that the internal folder structure in the
zip is unchanged.
Some versions of WinZip, for instance, by default includes the current
folder name when you zip an entire folder; this is inconsistent with
Winzip's own defaults when *unzipping* to a folder... so every time you
unzip to a subfolder and then zip it back, it adds a new folder level.
To cure it, you have to disable the "'Add to' includes folder
information" box in "Explorer Enhancements." Other archiving utilities
might have similar issues.

Re: Multizilla and SeaMonkey 2

Well, I have successfully installed Multizilla and done the pull over of the Multizilla settings from prefs.js in .18, and things are sort of working. I have no center click to open new tabs, and when I right click on a tab, I get nothing. The options are mostly elsewhere, though I miss the ability to send a tab to a new instance of Mozilla. I'll be glad when the boys decide that November is Fall...if they ever do.
