You haven't been blown off as a crackpot, of course, but no one can
reproduce your problems with mailto links AFAIAA. If you want to take
your mailto problem up again in the Firefox or Thunderbird group, fine,
but highjacking a thread about ChatZilla in the SeaMonkey group is
inappropriate.

I'm setting followups to mozilla.general.

Perhaps the section you chose to quote needed to be moved. But in the
whole I was pointing out to the poster I was answering, when he
suggested that email component should be removed from SeaMonkey.

The point I was making with the above comment is how the components work
efficiently with each other as as opposed to how clunky FF/TB work
together. That SeaMonkey was made for people that wanted everything
rolled into one.

And it's a horrible point, since they work just fine together, not
clunky at all. You, Phillip, can't make mailto links work ok, and
AFAIK no one is able to help you make them work, but they work fine
for other people. And you knew that.

As you have seen from this thread and many others like it, there
are a lot of SeaMonkey users who do *not* want everything piled into
one. To the extent that they can, SM developers and support people
help them with what they want. If you can help with that, by all means
go back to the thread in the support group and help with it.

The aim and desire of SeaMonkey is and was for all in one (News/Mail/Web
Browser/FTP)
Now we people that want to remove the email or the newsgroups or the
web Browser.

We already have that in FF which is browser only and Thunderbird which
email/news only.

Those are *your* aims and desires, obviously not shared by all
SeaMonkey users. SeaMonkey, until recently, gave users the option of
having an e-mail client bolted onto the browser. Now, for Windows
users at least, it's not an option to do without the e-mail/news
component, and there have been a lot of complaints from SM users who
don't want it.

SeaMonkey users don't generally want to use Firefox, but a lot of them
do want to use the SeaMonkey browser without having an e-mail/news
client bolted to it, as in this thread. Or ChatZilla, earlier in this
thread.

Sorry, I assumed (wrongly) that you were savvy enough to realize that
"Local Folders" is NOT an account but rather a repository that includes
INBOX, etc. and that you would drag/drop messages likewise. "Local
Folders" is auto-created when TB is installed.

"SkinkFox could have the same relationship to Thunderbird that
Lightning has to Sunbird: the same product packaged both standalone,
  and as an extension."

There is no more Sunbird being produced, though it's possible to get
and use old Sunbirds. The calendar people gave up on it because they
didn't have the manpower to maintain it and Lightning both.

WRT the overall point of the blog post, I don't think making an e-mail
add-on for Firefox would enhance Mozilla's brand or revenues. The
blogger says it would but doesn't explain anything about that.

The opinions in that blog were still interesting, to me, but I don't see
the benefit, either. Maybe the blogger needs to look more closely at
Seamonkey. ;-)

problems deleting unneeded newsgroups in seamonkey

I am not sure this is the right place to request help for my current
problem. A host of newsgroups suddenly appeared in my seamonkey site,
and I wish to delete them one at a time or all at once. The instructions
under 'help' tell me to identify the icons and 'delete', however, there
is no 'delete' feature related to the newsgroup items. I assume I am
missing a detail. Can someone advise??
Thanks.
