wml

Hi ,
Even after uninstalling the wml browser i cannot reach
certain websites anymore because FF thinks its a wml
site.
For instance news.ft.com. I have to visit those sites
with IE now.
Any idea what i can do about that?
Thx Michiel

If you reinstall the browser, you can select the options panel (Tools/
Extensions/ wmlbrowser / options and disable "Tell web sites that the
browser understands WML content".

Or, if you type in "about:config" in the address bar, then
"network.http.accept.default" in the Filter, you should see a value
"text/xml,application/xml,...". If you right-click on this and select
"Reset" then it should have the same effect.

(The next version of wmlbrowser, 0.7.1, has code which disables this
facility when the extension is uninstalled. This code is present in
0.7.0 but does not function correctly.)

wmlbrowser 0.7.1 released

wmlbrowser 0.7.1 is released. It adds the following new features:

     * Slovakian help files added. Thanks to SlovakSoft for the
contribution.
     * A bug fix for form submission (bug 13209).
     * Setting "Load .wml files" now always works (it used to need
multiple attempts sometimes) (bug 13337).
     * When disabling or uninstalling the extension, the option "Tell
web sites that the browser understands WML" is reset (Firefox only).
(This code was present in 0.7.0 but generally didn't work.) (bug 13338).

Firefox users can use automatic update to get the new version (possibly
after a small delay). Other users can install it at
http://wmlbrowser.mozdev.org/installation/wmlbrowser.html

wmlbrowser 0.7.1 released

Matthew,

Is there a rough ETA for the fix for bug 13223? This bug has completely crippled wmlbrowser for me and my users.

Thanks,

Sam

0.7.2 released

wmlbrowser 0.7.2 has been released. It fixs the following faults:

     * Fix submitting variables to a URL with query parameters (bug
13223) which used to work but which was broken in 0.6.10 or 0.7.0.

     * Recognise ":e", ":u", ":n" as the short forms of ":escape",
":unescape", ":noescape" and fix the implementation of these (bug 13367).

Firefox users who installed from this site should be able to upgrade
automatically to the new version.

Resizing Firefox Window to emulate phone screen sizes

Hi all,

Re: WML browser and screen size

Question: Can the size of a displayed WML page be
reduced to emulate a phone screen?

Michael previously said:

I have attempted to use this trick, but
Firefox/wmlbrowser combo doesn't want to play nice....
it seems to think that the content area can't be
smaller than around 256 pixels wide* without drawing a
scrollbar across the bottom.

Also the actual presentation of the wml deck (grey
rectangle), starts around 16 pixels from the left hand
side (and also down from the top).
Why is this? Can these offsets be editted?

I'm trying to emulate small screen sizes of 176x208 or
thereabouts, and find this scrolling behavior
annoying!

[* roughly measured with Firefox 1.5/wmlbrowser 0.7.2,
Mac OS X 10.3.9.]

Any hints on how to get a really small screen?

Regards,
- Grant.

Have you tried the Small Screen Rendering Extension?

wmlbrowser 0.7.4 has been released

wmlbrowser 0.7.4 has been released. Fixes since 0.7.2 are:

* Preferences dialog doesn't close on Mac (bug 13369).
* Correctly load certain documents which would previously have failed
(bug 13561).
* Improve styling for the "onenterforward not supported" warnings.

Firefox users who installed from this site should be able to upgrade
automatically to the new version.

(0.7.3 was created but not publically announced.)
