The only link I know of is this one, but it doesn't mention Enigmail:

Encrypting a reply with enigmail: Send Message Error

My setup

Mac OS X 10.4.10, TB 2.0.0.6, Enigmail 0.95.3 with GPG 1.4.3.

Whenever I reply to an encrypted&signed message, Thunderbird
automatically selects to encrypt my reply as well (a good thing, of
course). I go ahead and type my message and finally click on "Send".
Normally I would expect to see the encrypted text of the message for a
second while Thunderbird connects to the SMTP server and transmit the data.

With encrypted replies I get the folowing error, though: "Send Message
Error - Sending of Message failed. Please verify that your Mail &
Newsgroup account settings are correct and try again." In the message
window I see the encrypted version of the text.

What I have to do as a workaround: Copy the encrypted text into
clipboard, close the message window, reply to the message again,
DEselect the encrypt option in the menu, paste the encrypted text into
the message window, send the message. Unfortunately, this procedure
leaves out the appropriate message headers which causes spam filters to
treat the message as likely spam (no legible contents, only gibberish in
a plain-text message is suspicious).

I have already asked this question here:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=3088464

... but did not receive help yet. It seems that I am not the only one
experiencing this problem, though.

Thanks for your help!

Can you send me (in private mail) the debug log file?

pgp signature as enclosed file

Good Morning,
I was wondering if it is possible to put PGP signature as enclosed file in thunderbird + enigmail (like in
Kmail) in order to hide the signature to
mail clients that don't support PGP...

Thanks

Enigmail supports the PGP/MIME standard the same way Kmail does. However,
be aware that it hides signature to some non-PGP-aware clients but also
the whole mail message to others e.g. Outlook Express. That is why Enigmail
supports per-receipient-rules where you can define whom to send inline PGP,
whom to send PGP/MIME and whom to send the message unsigned.

HTML mails not displayed when Enigmail is NOT used.

Hello Everybody, This is my first message on this Newsgroup :

I use TB 2.0.0.6 and Enigmail 0.95.3 with MS Vista.

My problem is about HTML mails.

1st of all, let me underline the fact I only sent/receive encrypted mails in plain text. No problem with
that. That's the same for mails with signature. It works perfectly.

/!\ Nevertheless, I'm no more able to read mails sent in HTML anymore => Thunderbird displays them in plain
text! It's like Thunderbird is no more able to read HTML mails!

Let me give you a few examples :

1/ If I receive an interesting advertising mail, I only see it in plain text, even if I receive it in a mail
adress without any link with enigmail, public key, etc...

2/ If a friend who doesn't even know the existence of signature/encryption sends me a mail with html links, I
will see it in plain text

3/ If I send an HTML mail (I still can do that) and then look in my sent mails folder, I see the mail in plain
text... whereas I know the sent mail was in html and I know the recipient will read it in html.
[Of course, I'm talking here about mails without any signature or encryption.]

So Here are my questions :

I want to be able to read html mails which have nothing to do with GPG/enigmail in HTML. Is it possible ? How can
I do that ?

I also want to have my sent html mails (which have nothing to do with GPG/enigmail) correctly displayed in
HTML when I look at them in TB. Is it possible ? How can I do that ?

I hope I have been clear enough. If not, don't hesitate to ask me for more precision.

Thanks a lot for helping

Hi ryfe,

> I want to be able to read html mails which have nothing to do with

Thunderbird does not know which to display as plain text (which is a good
idea concerning signed email but also to not display/execute HTML-embedded
spy-/malware) and which as HTML (like adverts you know of and want to read
as HTML, or genuine greeting cards from friends).

But you could use https://addons.mozilla.org/de/thunderbird/addon/1556 to
achieve part of it: per default view plain text and with a button click
away view as HTML. Note that there even is a function to let AHT remember
senders that you'd like to always allow HTML. Yet, this does not work for
me at least using TB 2.0.0.6, AHT 1.0.3, EM 0.96a on an IMAP account.

They ARE sent as HTML correctly. TB just forgets about that YOU sent it
and applies the current settings for viewing en Email. So, clicking the
"Allow HTML Temp" button also gives you the HTML view of the Email you
just sent.
