For SM that holds true, as automatic updates are not working til 1.5...
But: Isnt there a possibility to have addons automatically checked for
updates within TB/FF? If EM would be integrated, would it be checked?

1. It wont do harm, as long as there are no "GPG not found" messages
appearing, but AFAIK disabling the "automtic check/decrypt" should be
enough.
2. For FF/TB the need to get it integrated is not as bad as for SM.
While FF/TB can (IIRC) install EM into the profile, this does not work
in SM. So if you are sitting in an internet cafe/at university/...
where SM is installed, and EM is not, you wont get it working.
Although you might not get it working if gpg is not installed, but
that is another issue. You could unzip gpg into your profile, and
point EM to it, or find any other way.
