Pl. help : re. Migration , moving data : Reformatted machine : Old mail directories backed up :

Hi

I use win XP and Mozilla 1.7.13 (I've downloaded and installed this
just now)

A few days ago, I had to reformat my machine + re install windows etc.
(AFTER safely copying Moz mail and bookmarks)

I had five different pop3 accounts i.e. 5 different profiles on my
earlier win XP machine . As far as I can see all important mail have
been backed up - so loss of mail or data is NOT an issue, just migration is

I need to move the mail (from my old backups) to Mozilla 1.7.13 that I
have just now installed

any advise, pointers, tip are most welcome

As of now I have used JUST this NEWS CLIENT and browser and taken care
NOT to start mozilla mail

some other notes
-------------------------
1. As of now I do NOT wish to move out of Mozilla
2. As of now I cannot move out of win XP
3. Pl pardon the cross posts. 'am forced to do this, to seek an early reply

thanks in advance for your time and efforts
regards

[ADMIN] mozilla-win32 is closing

It should be no secret these days that the Mozilla Foundation and its related projects are no longer a pet
project of Netscape, yet until recently, the newsgroups we've been using for public discussions still
bore the Netscape name, and our primary news server still lived on AOL (formerly Netscape) hardware.
We've been planning for years to move from netscape.public.mozilla.* to just mozilla.*, and this last
January, the time finally came!

In August, we announced a partnership with Giganews Newsgroups (http://www.giganews.com/) to provide
NNTP services for our news.mozilla.org domain. It took a few months of planning to make it happen, but in
January, we moved all of the gateway mailing lists and discussions that we still felt were needed over to
their new counterparts in the mozilla.* hierarchy.

As part of the move, we also moved our mail-to-news gateway over to a new list server, now living at
https://lists.mozilla.org/ . It has now come time to shut down the old list server in preparation for
decomissioning that machine (one step of many that will probably take a few months yet, but that's a story
for elsewhere).

If you're reading this message, the newsgroup you're reading it on wasn't one that we wound up moving, and is
now being abandoned by Mozilla. We encourage you to check out the list of new newsgroups/mailing lists at
http://www.mozilla.org/community/developer-forums.html .  If you've still got Mozilla-related
issues to discuss, there's probably an appropriate place to discuss them listed there. If there's not,
feel free to suggest that we create one by posting on the mozilla.dev.mozilla-org newsgroup or
dev-mozilla-org <at> lists.mozilla.org mailing list.

On Sunday, April 23rd, we'll be shutting down the mail-to-news gateway for this newsgroup at
mozilla-win32 .

For general information and frequently asked questions about the move to the new news and list servers, see http://www.mozilla.org/community/giganews-migration.html

If you have any questions that aren't answered here, and aren't answered in the above FAQ or on the community
developer forums page, please ask in the mozilla.dev.mozilla-org newsgroup or on the

build scripts for mozilla

HI

I've got version 1.0.0 and after "make -f client.mk build" I have mozilla.
But for version 1.7.6 for example the file "makefile.win" contains
all export libs::
 @echo See http://www.mozilla.org/build/win32.html for the updated build
instructions.

The question is what is the latest version of mozilla which has scripts to
be build on windows?

Thanks

How to get a CF_HDROP from javascript

I have a variable lf of type nsILocalFile and I want to get the CF_HDROP
clipboard format (from javascript, latest FF1.5).

My understanding is that I need to put a "application/x-moz-file"
flavour in the clipboard, but setTransferData seems to fail.
Somehow there is a CF_HDROP on the clipboard, but seems to be zero data.

I tried many variants of pointers (nsIFile, nsILocalFile, nsISupports),
also I used nsISupportsString encapsulating nsIFile.path, nsIURI.spec
but nothing helps.

I'm able to put it there as text as "text/unicode" or
"application/x-moz-url", but thats not what I want to realize.

Following snipped gives an idea whats not working ...

const CI=Components.interfaces;
  // lf = nsILocalFile
  // uri= nsIURI

var gClipboard =
Components.classes["@mozilla.org/widget/clipboard;1"].getService(CI.nsIClipboard);
   var trans =
Components.classes["@mozilla.org/widget/transferable;1"].createInstance(CI.nsITransferable);

var kFileMime="application/x-moz-file";

trans.addDataFlavor(kFileMime);
// trans.setTransferData(kFileMime, lf.QueryInterface(CI.nsISupports), 4);

How do I get Windows Media Player v9/v10 to show up in Mozilla v1.7.12?

I am using Windows XP Pro. SP2 and Mozilla v1.7.12 on two different
computers.

At home, Mozilla uses Windows Media Player (WMP) v9 when playing back
WMV files in Web pages (e.g., likes the ones on
http://www.planetvids.com/). I also can fast forward once it gets enough
buffers/feeds(?). At work, it looks like WMP v6.4 is playing and I
cannot fast forward even when buffered/fed enough.

At first, I thought it was file type associations but that doesn't seem
to change.

Thank you in advance. :)

Improvement to T-Bird

I hope this is going to the right people.  I believe someone, certainly not me, would make a little change to the address book.

When I select HTML as mail type for an addressee I would like the Address Book to automatically be set to HTML.  The same for TEXT and BOTH.  It seems intuitive to me.

Any thoughts anyone?

Questions RE: Thunderbird

Apolgies if this has hit the wrong newsgroup. I've tried a few others
but not joy in getting my answers.

I have a couple of questions. If you know the answers please help, thanks.

* How do I start threads collapsed?
* Do you know of any plugin/extension which will allow me to highlight a
certain area of text and quote only that in a reply (such as in Gravity
Newsreader?)
* It always shows as "So and so wrote" - I prefer to change that. How?

I've other questions but can't think of them for the moment. Thanks
again for reading.

PrefsToolbar in Seamonkey release

Has anyone tried the PrefsToolbar in sea monkey release yet? I
installed it ok but it didn't work :-(

Help appreciated as I find the toolbar almost indispensable.

Also could someone please clarify whether security updates will still
be done with mozilla. TIA
