It's a flaw that has been mentioned before. Recurring event handling is
dreadful in Sunbird. The only way to deal with it is to use the
"exceptions" tab, a clumsy solution at best. I don't know what work is
being done to fix it; I sincerely hope that something is being done.

Normally if the server requires a password, it asks for it and Calendar
prompts you. You can put the password in the URL if you really want to:

   webcal://username:password <at> ical.mac.com/gizmo78/Maintenance.ics

If your user name contains special characters (like <at> ), then you must
encode them (like %40).

That much is in the help:

   http://calendarhelp.mozdev.org/open.xul?topic=share:http

If you are not being prompted for a password, I think it means that the
server is not asking for one, and I don't know why that would happen.

There is a design proposal in the wiki dealing with recurrence, and I'm
drafting one to deal with tasks. These documents are a start, because
they are a place to collect ideas and see how they fit together. They
will provide a structure for any developer beginning work on these
things in the future.

the ONE function that is missing........

The one function of both Sunbird and the Calendar extension for TBird
that is preventing me from migrating from Outlook, is the function that
allows you to drag an email, or URL, or file onto either the Calendar or
Tasks and a new event or task window pops up with the dragged item as a
shortcut in the "details" box.......
Is this going to be considered?

Maby you can add it to the FAQ (wiki.mozilla.org).

Calender data location

  Moz suite 1.7.5 , win 98 se

I had a severe crash. I had to swap my C to D and D to C so I lost
about 2 weeks of set-ups including 1.7.6 and Calender. Not much else
Where on my now D drive will I find the calender data that I generated
with Moz 1.7.6. plus calender. Just a file name... I know the location
of the profile. Oddly enough, I'm getting my alarms, but no info
displayed on calender. checking display settings.....

I agree completely. I prefer the multiweek view with the tasks on the
sidebar. I don't assign deadlines to the majority of my tasks, rather I
just prioritize them.

But on occasion I need to set deadlines to tasks, and it's much faster
to be able to drag them from Tasks and drop them on the date of the
deadline. Then it at least gets the correct due date in, and if I don't
like the default time, that is all that I have to change.

I have transitioned from Outlook though, but it took me about a month of
tinkering with it before I did. I like the ability to easily have
multiple calendars displayed at once.
